ObitCharles Victor's obituary was published in the Unknown Newspaper on circa 3 February 1897:
Chas. V. Knoop, son of Henry C. Knoop, of near Casstown, died, Tuesday evening, from consumption. He graduated from the Troy High school in June, 1893, and that winter went to Columbus to attend the Ohio State University, but the next year failing health compelled him to leave school and go to another climate for his health. He went to San Antonio, Texas, but gradually grew worse until his physician telegraphed for his mother. The poor boy had not many days to live, and was so anxious to see his dear old home in Miami County and to die among his friends that his heart broken mother at once started home with her boy and reached Troy at midnight last Friday. They went to the home of Mrs. Joseph Gross where they rested until Sunday and then the boy was removed to his home just forty0eight hours before the final summons came. His funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon and the grief stricken parents have the sympathy of many friends in this their great bereavement.4
