ObitCharles Edward's obituary was published in the Morgan Messenger on 15 March 1945:

Charles E. Casler, after an illness of almost a year, died Tuesday afternoon, March 13, at his home here. He had been bedfast for several weeks. He would have been 81 had he lived until March 29. He was a native of Morgan County, a son of the late Jonathan and Ann Keifer Casler. All of his life was spent in this county with the exception of two or three years in Oklahoma. For several years he operated a drug store here. On his return from Oklahoma he went into the general merchandise business in what was later the Community Store. While there he erected the building, in which is now the general store of J.E. Helsley, where he continued to conduct a similar business for many years.
When a young man he taught school for several terms, at Grape Hill, Spohrs Cross Roads, Alpine and others. He also engaged in farming and at one time operated a meat market. He was active in affairs of the Democratic Party in the county and was chairman of the executive committee a number of times. He was an original member of the Morgan County Selective Board and its chairman for some time before he death. For many years he was a member of Deford Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Casler was married three times. His first wife was Miss Evelyn Pentoney, now deceased. To this union eleven children were born, eight of whom survive and are, John and Harry Casler, of Akron, Ohio; Mrs. George Leighty, of this place; Mrs. Donald Welborne of Wilmington, Del., and Mrs. F.R. Gould, of Los Angeles, Calif. His second wife, also deceased was Miss Lou Grove. His third wife, who survives him, was Mrs. Ella Barker. Two brothers, Howard and Johnny, and a sister, Mrs. Ida Lawyer, all of this place, also survive. Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at the United Brethren Church, of which he was a member, with the Revs. James Blanton, of the Presbyterian Church and Henry H. Rowland, of the Methodist Church, officiating. The Masonic burial service will be conducted at the grave in Greenway Cemetery.5
(Witness) BioIn the Berkeley Srings, WV newspaper dated 10-04-1907:
We hear through Mrs Jonathan Casler that Mr. Chas. E. Casler and family will shortly return to Berkeley from Oklahoma. Four or five members of the family are ill with typhoid fever, John, one of the older boys went to Texas was taken sick and his father had to go after him. Mr. Casler wants to rent a dwelling here for his family, and has inquired about several properties.

The following is from "Morgan County, West Virginia And Its People" published in 1981, Fond Memories - Charles E. Casler Family.
My father and mother were born in the same town but in different sates. The Civil War occurred and because they were born at different times the original state had seceded. My father, Charles Edward Casler, was a teacher in his younger days and it was during the time that he boarded with Mama's family, the Pentoneys, that they met and married. They had 11 children, nine of whom lived to adulthood. Today my sister Ida May and me, Frances Leola are the only ones left, and we are 78 and 88. (note-they both died two years later) Papa always had a general store in town, and at one time he ran a lumber-yard. He was also a licensed druggist. It was strange at times to have you father for a teacher. In 1907 we moved to Lawton, Oklahoma for about a year but we missed Berkeley Springs. I remember that when we returned we were welcomed by a brass band. In 1916 we moved to Johnstown, Pennsylvania and it was there the Mama died and we brought her back to Berkeley Springs for burial. Papa lived there the rest of this life. He remarried and he and his wife ran a boarding house in our old home next to the church, where many wealthy people stayed when they came to bathe in the healing waters of the mineral springs. At one time we lived on a farm out near Widmeyer's old place, later Custers lived there. The children and grandchildren loved this place. In Berkeley Springs we lived for quite a few years in a large white house at the top of the hill. (note- Pendle Hill) The place latter burned down but I remember there was a small canning factory in back. Finally, we moved back to our original home. Unfortunately, after Papa died, this home was torn down and a modern place built on the site. We had planned on preserving the house for future generations and we never recovered from the loss. Out of the nine children born to Charles and Evaline Casler, only one, Elizabeth Casler Leighty remained in the area and raised three children. Through the years, all of us came back to Berkeley Springs for many reasons; for vacations and reunions, and extended visits. Children, grandchildren spent delightful summers there and we have many fond and wonderful memories of the time we lived there. It was a great place in former days, back when a farm was a farm to the utmost degree. We rode in a horse and buggy, or a sleigh pulled by horses jingling all the way. Our homes were lit by the soft glow of candles and kerosene lamps. There was an outhouse in every yard and a working pump that supplied cold, delicious water. Best of all were the bounties a farm supplied. Trees laden with cherries, apples, peaches, plums and bushes full of blackberries, huckleberries, strawberries and other tasty fruits to be picked and eaten when you wanted them. O course there were many disadvantages but the advantages far outweighed these. It was a life lived in a world that was gracious and unhurried and will never come again.
Mrs. Frances Leola (Casler) Gould. (note-Mrs Frances Gould and her sister Ida May Emberly were living together in Frances's house in Los Angeles, CA. By this time both their husbands had passed away.) When I last visited my aunts, Aunt Ola (Frances) said she would die this year. She said she was tired and all of her friends were gone. Her eye sight was poor but she seemed in pretty good shape. I think she was just tired of living. She was 90 then. She died later that year.6

Death*Rilla Belle Householder died on 2 May 1928 at Denison Twp., Lawrence, Illinois, at age 52.6
ObitRilla Belle's obituary was published in the Morgan Messenger on circa 9 May 1928:

Rilla B. Householder, daughter of D.T. and Frances Pentoney Householder, was born near Berkeley Springs, W. Va., on January 22, 1876. Departed this life at her home near St. Francisville, Illinois, May 2, 1928, age 52 years 3 months and 10 days. She was united in marriage at her father's home near Berkeley Springs, W. Va. to Frank Hovermale on January 21, 1892. To this union five children were born: Lewis Perkins Hovermale, St. Francesville, Ill; Clara Frances Tustin, St. Louis, Mo; Laura Jane Dasch, Evansville, Ind., who on account of ill health is not able to attend the funeral service, Violet Iowa Steffy, Sumner, Ill; and Hanna Fern Hovermale at home. After her marriage, she with her husband lived on a farm near her father's home for nine years. In the year 1901, they moved to Lone Rock, Iowa, where they resided for six years, then moving to Illinois and this vicinity in the year 1906, where they continued to reside at the time of her death. She was early converted to faith in Jesus Christ when twelve years of age, uniting with the Evangelical church in West Virginia. When they moved to Iowa she transferred her membership to the M.E. church there. Then she transferred to the United Brethren church at Sand Barrens when moving to Illinois. She was a loyal supporter of her church and of various organizations, being a member of the Woman's Missionary society. She also was a member of the Eastern Star. She was a loving companion, and mother, faithful to her household, and a true friend. The church lost a faithful worker, the community a good neighbor. She will be missed, Yes! But she rests from her labors and her works will follow her. Her children will rise up and call her blessed, her husband also will praise her.
She leaves to mourn her departure, her devoted husband, her five children, her aged father, D.T. Householder, 84 years of age, of Berkeley Springs, W. Va., her step-mother and two sisters, Mrs. Cynthia Fuss, of Hancock, Md., Mrs. Mary Young, of Cherry Run, W. Va., three brother, Charles Householder of Berkeley Springs, W. Va., Harry Householder of Sleepy Creek, W. Va., and Harvey Householder of Baltimore. Her mother and one brother preceded her in death. She also leaves five grandchildren, Robert Hovermale, Paul, Ray and Francis Tustin, Gaile Steffey, and Virginia Lee Dasch, also a number of uncles and aunts and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held at Sand Barrens church on May 5, and she was laid to rest in Oakland cemetery in St. Francisville, Ill. Rev. W. Longenbaugh, her pastor, T. Harper, of the M.E. church of St. Francisville, and R.B. Hall of Flora, Ill., a former pastor, conducted the services and music was furnished by the St. Francisville male quartet. The pallbearers were: Thomas Diver, Lee Stevens, William Dasch, John Collison, Ed Birkheimer, and Esco Perkins. The flower bearers were: Misses Ruth Diver, Mary Diver, Mary Barthelemy, Irene Stevens Larna Highsmith, Harriett Perkins, and Knolah Van Way, and Wave Sparks.7
