During World War 1, he served in the field artillery, 82nd division. He was an employee of the Beckman Supply company for 22 years and was a member of Post 168, American Legion.
Members of the post will be in charge or military funeral services Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Timmerman and Richardson funeral home. Burieal will be in the Legion plot in Elmwood cemetery. Barfield is survived by his mother, Mrs. Susan Barfield and three sisters, Mrs. William Hartman, Arcadia, Cal., Mrs. Waymond J. Pettit, Highland, and Mrs. Harry Kahl, Munster.7

Mrs. Osborn's family will receive friends Monday, July 14, 2014, from 5-7 p.m. at Lakeland Funeral Home at 2125 South Bartow Highway in Lakeland. Roy COLLINS, 88, Macy, died at 12:40 p.m. Friday at Woodlawn Hospital, where he was a patient for three weeks. He had been in failing health for several years. He was born Dec. 6, 1896 in the Millark community to Lawrence and Mary Ellen SLISHER COLLINS. He had resided most of his life in the Macy community. He was married Dec. 24, 1919 in Rochester to Edith WORMAN, who survives. He was a retired bulk truck driver for the Farm Bureau Co-op and a member of the Macy Christian Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I and formerly was a member of the World War I Barracke. Surviving with the wife are a daughter, Mrs. Arlene PALMER, Wabash; five sons, Herbert [COLLINS], Indianapolis; Robert [COLLINS], South Bend; Norman [COLLINS], Macy; Donald [COLLINS], Milford, Mich., and Larry COLLINS, Lebanon; twelve grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. Two sisters and four brothers preceded in death. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Foster & Good Funeral Home with the Rev. David SMITH officiating. Burial will be in the Macy Plainview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and on Monday from 9 a.m. until time of services.2

Survivors are thre brothers, Francis COLLINS, Rochester; Fred COLLINS, San Antonio, Texas; and Ray COLLINS, Macy. The Rev. Scottie WEBSTER will officiate at the services, and burial will be in the Plainview cemetery in Macy. She was employed at the tailer shop of Culver Military Academy at the time of her death. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary of Culver. She was married May 8, 1930 in Rochester to Alvin T. EWING, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Robert L. [EWING], Rocheter, and Richard L. [EWING], stationed at McClellan Air Force Base, Sacramento, Cal; a daughter, Mrs. Orion (Jean) DeRUITER, Argos; a brother, William [EWING], Huntsville, Ala., and eleven grandchildren. Two brothers and a sister preceded in death. Funeral rites will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bonine funeral home in Culver with the Rev. Robert HANSEN officiating. Zenith F. MOW, aged 64, passed away Thursday evening at 11 o’clock at his home on East Eighth street, this city. The deceased had been in ill health for the past 15 months suffering from paralysis. His condition became critical about three days ago. Mr. Mow had been a resident of Rochester throughout his entire life where he was employed as a laborer and also as a fisherman’s guide at Lake Manitou. He had a wide acquaintance among the anglers in the northern section of Indiana. Zenith, son of Adam and Lucy MOW was born in Rochester, Indiana on March 17th, 1872. On September 6, 1896 he was united in marriage to Laura E. MOORE, who preceded him in death. The survivors are two daughters Mrs. Leonard LOWE, and Mrs. Rex ROUCH, both of this city; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother Bert MOW and a sister Mrs. William LYNN, of California. Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at two o’clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leonard Lowe, East 4th street. Rev. Herbert M. RIGGLE will be in charge of the services. Interment will be made in the Citizen’s cemetery.5

She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church and the Service Circle of the church, and was a life member of the Eagles Lodge Ladies Auxiliary. Surviving with the daughter, Georgia LIMING, is another daughter, Marguerite ZIMMERMAN, Walkeerton; five grandchildren, Nancy HOFFMAN, Rochester; Earl BECK, Graham, Texas; Tim THOMPSON, Washington, D.C; Steve THOMPSON, Chicago, Ill., and Verle ZIMMERMAN, Fort Wayne; eleven great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; two nieces and a nephew, Mrs. Paul (Verla) ZARTMAN and Evelyn DeMEIN, both of Rocheser, and Wilbert ROUCH, Wabash. A daughter, two sons and a sister preceded in death. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Foster & Good Funeral Home in Rochester with the Rev. Frank VOSS officiating. Surviving are a son, Wilbert [ROUCH], Wabash; two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Verla) ZARTMAN and Mrs. Evelyn SHIVELY, both of Rochester; four grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Maude LOWE, Rochester, and several nieces and nephews. Last rites will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Zimmerman Brothers funeral home with the Rev. William SIMPSON officiating. Burial will be in the Citizens cemetery. Friends may call after 7 o’clock tonight.2

Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Graveside services will be in charge of American Legion and the Eagles Lodge. Mr. Rouch, who had been ill five weeks and in a serious condition since submitting to major surgery Dec. 21, died of uremic poisoning. A life resident of Rochester, Mr. Rouch was born Nov. 17, 1896, the son of George and Marietta ROUCH. He was graduated from Rochester High school and on July 15, 1942, married the former Agnes CRIST. A poultry buyer for many years, he was a member of the Eagles and Moose lodges and
the LeRoy Shelton American Legion Post. He was custodian of the Manitou Aerie Eagles lodge rooms during the last six years. Survivors include the wife and three children by a former marriage: Mrs. Ernest SHIVELY, Miss Verla ROUCH and Wilbert ROUCH, Rochester; a grandson, Rex Roger ROUCH, Rochester; a stepson, Ralph CRIST, Rochester; two sisters, Mrs. Pearl BLUE, Chicago, Mrs. Mae FUGATE, Rochester; two brothers, Arthur ROUCH, San Antonio, Tex., and “Jerry” ROUCH of Rochester.
The body lies in state at the residence on the southwest side of Lake Manitou.2

Lola F. COLLINS, 84, Tucson, Ariz., died Friday at 2:25 p.m. in the Posada Del Sol nursing home, Tucson. She was born Sept. 2, 1894 in Macy to Albert and Ollie KINGERY SMITH and had lived most of her life in the Macy area except for the last seven years in Tucson. She was married Nov. 1, 1913 in Macy to Charles COLLINS, who died in 1937. Mrs. Collins was a member of the First Christian church, Macy. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Glen (Helen) McGINNIS, Tucson, and Mrs. Doyne (Mary) BARKER, Benson, Ariz; a son, Russell [COLLINS], of Benson; six grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah CHAPIN, Rochester, and Mrs. Orville CUMBERLAND, Hernando, Fla., and a brother, Harold SMITH, also of Hernando. Five sisters and three brothers preceded in death. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster & Good funeral home with the Rev. William SHEWMAN officiating. Burial will be in the Plainview cemetery, Macy. Friends may call from 3-9 p.m. today and on Tuesday until hour of service.3
