Steve Eldon Dielman, 57, Santa Rosa, Calif., formerly of Macy, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at his residence. He was born on April 1, 1955 in Savannah, Ga., the son of Donald and Anna J. (Norman) Dielman. He was a 1973 graduate of North Miami High School.

Mr. Dielman was previously employed at Home Hospital in Lafayette, as an E.M.T. and later worked in the orthopedic department. For over 25 years, he worked with his friend Steward Ryder in the Am-Care medical transportation business in Santa Rosa, Calif. His true passion, however, was his job with Sonoma Raceway (formerly Sears Point Raceway and Infineon Raceway). He had started his career at Sonoma Raceway working on the emergency crews on race day and later in the tower in race control, where he was truly in his element. Other race facilities where he worked were Thunderhill Raceway and Laguna Seca Raceway. He was also a long time member of The Sports Car Club of America (SCCA).

Besides racing and being at the racetrack, his hobbies included working with flowers, music and the arts. He had a great sense of humor, a quick wit and always enjoyed making people laugh. Survivors include his parents, Donald and Anna Dielman, Rochester; sister, Teresa Thomas, Fishers; brother, Jon and wife Carmen Dielman, Gilead; and several nieces and nephews. Private services will be observed. Interment will take place at Plainview Cemetery, Macy.3
