John Beezley, Retired Farmer; P.O. Plattsville, Ohio

The subject of this sketch was born in Hamilton County, Ohio, on the 22nd day of October, 1797. He is a son of William and Elizabeth Beezley, who moved from Hamilton to Clermont County, Ohio, remained until 1812, when they removed to Clarke County, where the subject of this sketch grew to manhood. In October, 1816, he married Miss Elizabeth Ellsworth, of Clarke County, daughter of John and Mary Ellsworth, who were among the pioneers of Green Township, this county. Mr. And Mrs. Beezley settled in Clarke County, remained until the spring of 1826 , when they came to this county and settled in Green Township, where he has since resided and made farming his vocation. They reared a family of nine children, five of whom are yet living - William, Paul, Silence, Jane and Rachel. William and Paul are now in Iowa: Silence and Jane are living in Missouri, and Rachel is living in Illinois. All are married and have families. William Beezley served three years in the war of 1861, as captain of a company in the Illinois regiment. Paul Beezley served four years during the late war, as a private in the 20th O.V.I., and was honorably dischared at the close of the war.

On October 25, 1896, she was united in marriage to Benjamin EDDINGTON. No children were born to this union. She has one brother, Jason FIELDS, of Sebetha, Kansas who survives her. The funeral will be held in Hoover’s Chapel, Friday afternoon, Rev. CRANE of the United Brethren church in charge.Burial will be made in the Citizens cemetery.3

Jason R. Field, 84-year-old Attica farmer, passed away at his home last Sunday, following an extended illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the First Methodist church in Attica, with Rev. S.E. Dorsett, pastor of the Faith Fundamentalist Baptist church of Anthony, officiating. The Elliott Funeral home of Anthony was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in the Attica cemetery.

Mr. Field was born on February 18, 1857, near Columbus, Ohio. At the age of 21, he first came to Nemaha county, Kansas, remaining only a short time, and then returned to Indiana. On December 25, 1883, he was married to Matilda Harper.

The Field family moved to Kansas, settling at Danville on October 17, 1891. The family resided in Danville for four years, then moved to a farm near Freeport. In 1907 they moved to their home south of Attica where they resided until the death of Mrs. Field, in June, 1927. Since that time, Mr. Field has made his home with his son, Harry, at Spearman, and Booker, Texas; with Grover, at Offerle, Kansas; and with Ray, on the home place, south of Attica. Mr. Field returned to Attica on August 5 of this year.

He was preceded in death by his wife, and one daughter, who died in infancy. Survivors in the immediately family are: three sons, Grover Field, Offerle, Kansas; Harry Field, Booker, Texas; and Ray Field, of Attica. 
Death*He died in 1941 at Attica, Harper, Kansas; at the home of his son Ray, buried at the Attica Cemetery.13

Funeral services for the late E. W. Field were held at the Reinhart undertaking chapel at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Reverend Vernon conducting the service. J.R. Field of Attica, Kas., brother, G.C. Field of Offerle, Kas., nephew, and Mrs. Fred Pautz of Hiawatha, second cousin of the deceased were here. Interment was in the Sabetha cemetery.
E.W. Field was 58 years of age. He was born in Vermillion county, Ind., January 16, 1862. G.C. Field left Sabetha in 1883. E.W. Field left the ten acre farm south of Sabetha and the farm equipment. J.C. Lichty has been appointed administrator of the estate. The effects will be sold at public auction.9

The deceased, who was 25 years old, left the city for Las Vegas several weeks ago with the hope of benefiting his health. He did not gain, however, but failed gradually from the time of his going away. The parents, Mr. And Mrs. John Odaffer, Rochester, Ind; the wife, Mrs. Eva Odaffer a bride of four months; and two sisters and one brother survive. The brother and sister reside at Rochester. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. (Buried at Riverside Cemetery.)3,4,5

A retired employee of the Oliver Corp., he had spent his lifetime in South Bend. His wife, the former Eva G. Feser, died March 1, 1955. Surviving are a granddaughter, Miss Kathryn A. Meilke, and a sister, Mrs. George Nichols of Battle Creek. His son, Earl, died in 1959. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, where services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday. Rev. Edward W. Brueseke, D.D., pastor of Zion United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Mr. Meilke served with the U.S. Marine Corps from 1908 to 1912.3
