Born July 20, 1921 in Morgan County, he was the son of the late Samuel U. and Katie (Gantt) Huffman. He had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired machinist, having worked at the Celanese Corporation, A.B.L. and CSX. He was a member of New Day Baptist Church. . . .
Survivors include on daughter, Nancy Hunter of Newfoundland, Canada; one granddaughter, Denise Goose of Ottawa, Canada; 10 stepchildren . ; two sisters, Sadie Householder of Fort Ashby and Marguerite Breakall of Baltimore. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Zelda (McBride) Huffman; his second wife, Rosella (Lowery) Burley Huffman; two brothers and nine sisters. The funeral service was conducted from the Upchurch Funeral Home, Inc, Fort Ashby, on Saturday, July 27. Interment was in Forest Glen Cemetery.²

Mrs. Pearl Michael, 70, of Gore, died December 19 in Winchester Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Michael was born in Berkeley Springs, on September 19, 1896, a daughter of the late Henry S. (West) and Sarah Swaim Michael. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant EUB Church. Her husband, Roy L. Michael, died December 17, 1958.
She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Naomi Miller, Ray Michael, Mrs. Vada Bowman, and Willis Michael, all of Winchester, Va; Mrs. Reva Roe and Mrs. Elzada Parish, both of Gore, Loyd Michael of Winchester; and Mrs. Etta Smith, of Gore; 18 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Carrie Michael, Mrs. Icy Cain, and Mrs. Grace Fearnow, all of Berkeley Springs. Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon, December 22 at 2 o'clock in the Hebron Baptist Church at Gore by the Rev. J. Beryl Boswell, pastor. Burial was in the Greenway Cemetery at Berkeley Springs. Pallbearers were her grandsons: Verlis Miller, Kenneth Miller, Glen Michael, Stephen Michael, Dale Roe, and Craig Roe.¹

She died on 19 December 1967 at Gore, Frederick, Virginia, at age 71; at the Winchester Hospital; buried at Greenway Cemetery.¹

She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church.
She is survived by seven daughters: Hattie Didawick, Nannie Michael, Helen Riley, Blanche McCarty, Carrie Michael, all from Berkeley Springs; Viola Michael of Martinsburg, and Emily Miner of Hagerstown; one son, Charles Ed Michael of Berkeley Springs; 19 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, 11 great great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 13, from the Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home in Berkeley Springs, with the Rev. William Merki officiating. Burial was in the Greenway Cemetery.²

Hellen L.'s obituary was published in the Columbus Republic on 27 December 2002:
Helen H. Rowell, 88, of Taylor Road died at 7:25 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2002, at Columbus Regional Hospital.Mrs. Rowell worked for Reeves Pulley Co. and Howard E. Crouse Accounting Service. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church where she was a former deacon and Sunday school teacher. She was a Girl Scout leader and past president of the Bartholomew County Girl Scouts Association.She was also a past president of the Republican Workshop, former member of the Bartholomew County Library Board, Bartholomew County Historical Society librarian and a member of Daughters of the American Revolution, Shakespeare Club and Tri Kappa Sorority. Mrs. Rowell was a Rensselear High School graduate and received her bachelor's degree in 1936 from Indiana University and master's degree in library science from the University of Wisconsin. She also worked for the Davenport, Iowa, Public Library. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2003 at Four Seasons Retirement Center Chapel with the Revs. Evelyn Brown and Ruth Billington officiating. Calling will be from 9 a.m. until service time Monday at the chapel. Burial and graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Woodland Cemetery at Van Wert, Ohio, with the Rev. J. Carter Hiestand officiating.⁴
