The subject's parents grew up and married in the Tar Heel state, and in 1813 moved to Morgan county, Tennessee where they lived for several years and later came to Illinois; after locating a home here they started back to Tennessee and the subject's father died at Hopkinsville, Kentucky. His wife died in Haines township, Marion county, Illinois. To them the following children were born: Curtis, Joseph, Samuel, Noah, Thomas, Wayne, Lizzie, Lucinda, Eliza and Rebecca. . . ."³
