Trogdon of Franklinville, Mrs. Charlie Jarrett of Ramseur; four brothers, Simon, Leslie and Johnny Beane of Ramseur and A. Theodore Beane of Franklinville; 11 grandchildren. Funeral service was held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Baptist church by the Rev. J.C. Dunvant, assisted by the Rev. Ernest Page. Burial was in the church cemetery.10

CHARLOTTE - Maggie Curtis Moffitt, 91, of the Care Center at Carmel Hills in Charlotte, died peacefully after a brief illness at Presbyterian Hospital and went to the loving arms of her Lord on Wednesday, March 8, 2006. Maggie was born in Randolph County on Jan. 5, 1915, to the late Charlie Cleveland and Hattie Bean Curtis. She graduated from Franklinville High School, where she played basketball and formed her life-long love of sports. Maggie attended Appalachian State Teacher's College until the Depression. She married Vester (A.V.) Moffitt on Jan. 25, 1941. He preceded her in death on Nov. 25, 1992. Wanting to work with children, Maggie operated a day care for many years and was known as "Mama Moffitt" to many wonderful and successful children. She attended Midwood Baptist Church for over 40 years and was most recently attending Kilborne Baptist Church. Mrs. Moffitt was also preceded in death by three sisters and twin brothers. Remembered for her love of reading the Bible and as a loving mother, she is survived by two daughters, Andrea Lambert and her husband, Wayne, and Sheila Sommers and her husband, Dennis; special caregiver and friend, Vicki Jones; and loving nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate the life of Maggie Moffitt will be held 2 p.m. Monday, March 13, in the Wilson Chapel of Hankins & Whittington Funeral Service, 5301 Albemarle Road, with the Rev. Sherrill Curtis of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Dallas, N.C., officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Margaret Curtis, age 79, died at the family home, 1612 Brown, mother of five children: Samuel T. Curtis, Lela E. Murry, Myrtle E. Harris, all of Pueblo; Jennie A. Kenney of Hughton, Calif., and Elizabeth G. Fine of Ceres, Calif., and 10 grandchildren. Member of Beulah M.E. Church, South. Funeral services will be held from the Beulah Church Thursday at 2 p.m. Burial at Beulah.
In the death of Mrs. A.A. Curtis, another name has been removed from the fast diminishing list of early pioneers. Mrs. Curtis came to Colorado in 1874 and settled in Canon City. She came to Beulah in 1883, where she and her husband bought land in the heart of the valley from Louis Boggs, the original pre-emptor. Mr. and Mrs. Curtis built the spacious home which later was acquired by the Donley family. Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Curtis. Peoples Funeral Home, Inc., Tenth at Grand.9
