GRAHAM — Mrs. Lucille Curtis Rich, 83, of 701 Providence Road, died at 3:55 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2002, at Twin Lake Retirement Community in Burlington.
A native of Gibsonville, Mrs. Rich was the wife of Mr. Kendall McBride Rich, who survives, and the daughter of the late Bulah Nash Curtis and Polly Ann Wyrick Curtis. Mrs. Rich was a graduate of Gibsonville High School and Burlington Business College. She was a devoted member of Providence United Church of Christ for more than 50 years, where she sang in the choir and held several church offices. Mrs. Rich was a joyful member of the Alamance Chorale and served as a volunteer for Welcome Wagon and Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include her husband of the home; two daughters, Janice Rich Blethen of Burlington, Sue Ellen Kovaleski and her husband, Pete Kovaleski, of Bullock; three granddaughters, Tracy Blethen-Kivett and husband, Tracy Kivett, of Mebane, Christen Blethen Cevik and husband, Orkun Cevik, of Burlington, and Katherine Suzanne Kovaleski of Bullock; one grandson, Travis Rich Kovaleski of Bullock; and two great-grandsons, Taylor McBride Kivett and Michael Alexander Kivett, both of Mebane.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Verla Day and Thelma Love; three brothers, Linwood Wyrick, Gordon Curtis, and J. Van Curtis.
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Providence United Church of Christ in Graham by the Rev. Darryl Peebles, and the Rev. Billy Rich. Burial will follow in the Providence Memorial Cemetery.5
