Jerry Lynn “Bingo” Moses, 58, of Athens, died Wednesday evening, Oct. 6, 2004, at Fort Sanders Parkwest Hospital in Knoxville. A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a son of the late Jennings and Erma Haney Moses. He loved all kinds of sports and was a member of New Zion Baptist Church, the VFW Post No. 5146 and was an employee of Heil Trailer International. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict, having served in the U.S. Army, and was preceded in death by one brother, Frank Moses.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Elizabeth “Tiny” Rookard Moses of Athens; four daughters and one son-in-law, Micki Lynette “Muffy” Moses and Kayla Marie Moses, both of Athens, and Stephanie Moses and Dorothy “Toni” and Paul Lindley, all of Greenville, S.C; one stepson, Kevin Michael Kennedy of Madisonville; one sister, Martha Nelson of Athens; one brother and two sisters-in-law, James “Moe” and Essie Moses and Mary Moses, all of Greenville, S.C; two grandchildren, Paula and Keri Lindley; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were 8 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with Ken Knirr and Tony Malone officiating. Graveside services were 10 a.m. Sunday at McMinn Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers were his co-workers, Tom Stephens, Paul Hill, Nick Wade, Ricky Burke, Jamie Keeton, Marty Goodman, Robert Wattenbarger and Dean Carroll.3
