Lela Vada Huffstettler, daughter of Sampson and Brazelia Curtis Young, was born the youngest of 11 children on July 2, 1907, near Hartville, Mo. She departed this life Tuesday, Feb 21, 1995, in Hartville Care Center in Hartville, Mo, at the age of 87 years, 7 months and 19 days. On Apr 3, 1929, she was united in marriage to Willis Ray Huffstettler and together they shared 32 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Willis on Jan 9, 1963; 6 brothrs Jason, Charley, Chester, Hosea, Roy, and Clarence; and 3 sisters Docia Matlock Kinnaman, Thona Huffstettler, and Elise Huffstettler. Lela is survived by a sister Macie Pearman of Seymour, Mo; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Hartville and continued to reside there for most of her life. She and Willis moved to their current home, which they built themselves in 1932. Lela professed her faith in Christ and was baptized in 1924 and became a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for many years and was active until her health began to fail. She enjoyed gardening and growing beautiful flowers, and was always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. Lela will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends. "God sees when the footsteps falter, when the pathway has grown too steep, then He touches the weary eyelids and gives this Dear one sleep." Burial in Little Creek Cemetery.2
