Arthur S. Burge Jr., 78, Kokomo, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Waterford Place. He was born April 2, 1935, in Indianapolis, to Arthur S. Burge Sr. and Ruth (Krause) Paul. On June 28, 1985, he married Barbara (Richardson) Burge, and she survives. He graduated from Arlington Tech High School and later served in the United States Army. He worked as a truck driver at General Transfer Company in Rochester for 15 years and at Dean Foods for 15 years. He was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 364, South Bend, for 30 years, VFW in Athens, Tenn., Moose Lodge in Fort Myers, Fla., American Legion in Kokomo, Masonic Lodge in Center, and the Scottish Rite in Indianapolis. He was an avid musician and played guitar and was the lead singer in the band "Country Showmen." He spent several winters in Fort Myers, Fla., at Cypress RV Resort.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Malissa (Scott) Maggard, Deborah McIntosh, Ellen Ferrell and Christina Seeley; one son, Shannon Burge; six grandchildren including granddaughter, Allison Morgan; brothers-in-law, John (Peggy) Richardson, Rodney (Kathy) Richardson, Patrick Richardson, Douglas Richardson, and Robert (Sandy) Richardson; sisters-in-law, Dixie (Mike) Gibson and Charlene Richardson; and nephew, Lee (Pamela) Mann. He was preceded in death by his parents; father and mother-in-law, Buddy and Josephine Richardson; and sister-in-law, Linda Richardson. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home, Kokomo.Entombment will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery.4
