L.A. Curtis Dead – Young Man Succumbs to Pneumonia After a Week’s Illness. Lucius A. Curtis, of the Curtis & Pancost Sign Co., of Elkhart, died at his home in Elkhart Wednesday morning after a week’s illness with pneumonia, the result of the Spanish influenza. Mrs. Curtis was born July 11, 1882, at the Indian Hill farm, two miles south of Osceola. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons and his father, Frank Curtis, south of Osceola, two sisters, Miss Nellie Curtis, of south of Osceola, Mrs. A.M. Jennings, of Wayne, Mich., and one brother, Ralph Curtis, of Washington, D.C. Mrs. Curtis was a member of the Knights of Pythias and also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon from the residence, 1433 West Lexington Avenue, Elkhart. Burial in the Noffsinger Cemetery. Mr. Curtis was well known in Mishawaka and vicinity.5
