Burial was in the Smith Cemetery, near the church, with Luff-Bowen in charge. Mrs. Curtis was a lifelong resident of Humphreys County, daughter of the late Enoch and Mary Elizabeth Wear Wheeler. She was a member of the Deer Creek Methodist Church. Her husband, James Henry Curtis, died ten months ago. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Roland McCarley, Route 3, Erin; four sons, Elvis Curtis, Waverly, Connie and Leon Curtis, Nashville, and Walter Curtis of Detroit, Michigan; one sister, Mrs. Hattie Collier of McEwen; 12 grandchildren and 2 step-grandchildren.2
