Birth*John Douglas Curtis was born on 9 September 1949 at Rome, Floyd, Georgia.1 
DeathExp Doug worked for his brother Randall, running a hardware store in Dallas, Georgia. When Home Depot opened its first store in Marrietta, Doug went to work for them, becoming the manager of a store in New Port Richey, Florida. Doug left Home Depot in 1995 and bought Pinch a Penny Swimming Pool Store in New Port Richey.
Doug loved old cars, and restored a 1981 Chevy Corvette to new condition and took it to car shows. He was an avid fisherman, fishing the numerous lakes around New Port Richey and the inlets and bays around Tampa. A few weeks prior to his death, he bought a 32 foot Stamus seagoing boat with GAP, radio and sonar so he could fish further out.

John Douglas Curtis, 48, of New Port Richey, died Friday at home. He moved to this area 11 years ago from Rome, Ga. He was the owner of a Pinch A Penny Store in Seminole and a Baptist. He is survived by a daughter, Corey Curtis, of New Port Richey; three brothers, Ray of Rome, Ga., Pat of Marietta, Ga., and Randall of Atlanta; two sisters, Judy Castell of Rome, and Kitty Bryant of Marietta. North Meadowlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, New Port Richey.2
