Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday at the McMahan Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Kellar Brown and the Rev. Billy Liner officiating. Interment will be in the Clearwater Cemetery.9 |

He had been a resident of Rome and Floyd County since 1942, coming here from Guntersville, Ala., and had been employed by Celanese Corp. as a mechanic from the time he moved to Rome until his retirement in September 1961. He was a member of Celanese Baptist Church, Floyd County Wildlife Association, Celanese Volunteer Firemen and Local 689, T.W.U.A. of Rome. Survivors include his wife, the former Miss Annie Jane Dewberry, to whom he was married June 27, 1925; four sons, Pat Curtis, Smyrna, Randall Curtis, Atlanta, Douglas and Ray Curtis of Rome; two daughters, Mrs. John W. Bryant and Mrs. Robert Casteel of Rome. Ten grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services were to be held at 3 p.m. today at the chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Rev. Sam Waldon, pastor of Celanese Baptist Church, and Elder James F. Poole officiating. Interment was to be in East View Cemetery. Pallbearers included Clarence Frady, Dean Nelson, Charles Ross, W.K. Johnson, John Evans, and J.I. Rigdon. Honorary pallbearers included the Celanese Volunteer firemen. Jennings Funeral Home has charge of the arrangements. |

Douglas Curtis of Tampa, Fla; three sisters, Mrs. Birma Broome, Mrs. Nellie Crumbley, and Mrs. Myrtle Garner, all of Rome; 13 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Wood will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Heritage Chapel of Jennings Funeral Home with Elder Lewis Norton officiating. Interment will follow in the East View Cemetery. Obit | Nancy Earle's obituary was published in the News-Tribune on 27 July 2004: Nancy Earle Hester “RN” Curtis, age 71, of Acworth, died Monday, July 26, 2004. A native of Rome, Mrs. Curtis moved to Cobb County in 1955. She was a registered nurse and worked for Ridgeview Institute in Smyrna for over 20 years before retiring in 1996. An active member of the First Baptist Church of Acworth, she worked with the senior adults and helped prepare and serve Wednesday night suppers at the church. Survivors include her husband, Patrick L. Curtis of Acworth; son, Greg Curtis and his wife, Cynthia, of Madison, Ala; daughter Cynthia Jan Curtis of Acworth; three grandchildren, Second Lieutenant Matthew Curtis of Fort Sill, Okla., and David and Michael Curtis of Madison; and a cousin, Dr. Jenny Stewart-Ellett of Richmond, Va. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw with the Rev. Clifton C. Duvall officiating. Burial will follow at the Pine Ridge Memorial Park Cemetery.2 |
