Born Aug.10, 1908, in Towns County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late Ed Thomas and Fannie Mae McClure Thomas. She was a lifelong resident of Union County. She was a member of Track Rock Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Avery Cook; two sons, Herbert Cook and Travis Cook; three daughters-in-law, Helen Cook, Lily Ruth Cook and Olean Cook; five sisters, Ruby, Thelma, Pauline, Irene and Flora; and three brothers, John, Nathan and Harvey. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Vivian Verona and Jimmy Cook of Blairsville; sons and daughters-in-law, E.L. Cook of Blairsville, Eugene and Ruby Nell Cook of Andrews, James and Sue Cook of Blairsville, Albert Cook of Blairsville; one sister, Era Mae Penland of Blairsville; 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. The family received friends from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, at Mountain View Funeral Home in Blairsville. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday March 9, at Track Rock Baptist Church with the Revs. Jerry Young and Denny Moss officiating. Special music was presented by the church choir. Pallbearers were Darrell, Gerald, Loy, Barney and Troy Cook, and Joe Jordan. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mountain View Funeral Home, Blairsville, was in charge of the arrangements.5
