Survivors: Daughters and sons-in-law, Evelyn and Larry Cummings of Greenback, Sheila and David Bowers of Maryville; Daughters, Margaret Curtis, Debbie Curtis of North Carolina; Sons, Danny Curtis, William Curtis, Michael Curtis and Tommy Curtis, all of Maryville; Sisters, Eva Nell Payne of Crossville, Louise Curtis and Mary Martin, both of Tellico Plains; Brothers, Kenneth Curtis, Bob Curtis, both of Tellico Plains; several grandchildren; three great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The funeral was May 26 in Miller Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James “Thomas officiating. Interment May 27 in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.6

(Witness) BioFelix Crowley was born in Ireland ca. 1834. He immigrated to America ca. 1855, and is listed on the 1860 census of Polk County, TN. Felix married Martha Curtis shortly after 1860. They lived in Ducktown, TN where he worked as a miner in the copper mines. Felix and Martha had four children: William, James, Mary and Lawrence. Martha died shortly after the birth of Lawrence. Felix later married Nancy Hill, the daughter of Elijah and Delph Payne Hill. Felix and Nancy had eight children: Frank, John, Rose, Margarett, Felix Jr., Decatur, George and Candace.
On 8/2/1880, Felix purchased from Elliott Boling 160 acres in the Owltown District of Union Co. GA for $175.00. Felix lived on and farmed this land with his family until his death ca. 1904. He is believed to have been buried in Duncan Cemetery.
James Crawley married Lou Cindy Rickett and reared their family in the Soddy-Daisey area of Tennessee. Lawrence Crawley married Rosa Lee Gillespie and lived in the Owltown District until the mid 1920’s when they moved to Spalding Co., GA. Lawrence and Rosa Lee have four infant children buried in Duncan. . .(missing text).3

Rev. Kenneth Reed Curtis (March 29, 2004) Rev. Kenneth Reed Curtis of Tellico Plains, passed away Monday, March 29, at his home. He was a member of Community Baptist Church, Madisonville, and a veteran of the Korean War. He was 70. Preceded in death by: wife, Adele Curtis; parents, Oscar and Sallie Curtis; four sisters and six brothers. Survivors include: nieces and spouses-Lynette Martin and Missy and Larry Bivens, all of Tellico Plains; and Melanie and Tony Summey of Madisonville; Nephews and spouses-Danny and Leann Martin, Jimmy Martin and Eddie and Cheryl Curtis, all of Tellico Plains; and Joe Curtis of Knoxville; Several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 8 p.m., Wednesday, in Biereley-Hale Chapel with the Rev. Carl Croft and Rev. Verlin Self officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m., Thursday, in Tellico City Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, at Biereley-Hale Funeral Home. Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Tellico Plains, in charge of arrangements.4
