Obit | Howard Benjamin's obituary was published in the Chronicle Telegram on 26 July 1965: Howard B. Seybert, 56, former restaurant owner in Elyria, died yesterday at Rest Haven Motel, Rt. 20 west, Bellevue, where he was part owner and had lived the past nine years. A native of Wakeman, Mr. Seybert had formerly lived in Wakeman and Elyria. He was a former member of the Elyria Fire Department. He was a veteran of service in World War II and was a charter member of the Elyria Amvets. Survivors are a sister, Mrs. Sarah Hammer of Ashland and two brothers, James of Canton and Robert of Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Friends may call at the Gerber and Son Funeral Home, Wakeman, after 7 p.m. EST today. Services will be at 2 p.m. EST Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Elwyn Owen, pastor of the Wakeman Congregational Church officiating. Burial will be in Wakeman Cemetery.6 |

NoteB | On June 13, 1938, the Chronicle Telegram reported that Robert Seybert, 22, of 203 West street and Charles Dillingham, 25, of 833 Bond street, were treated at Elyria Memorial Hospital about 5:15 a.m. Sunday for injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Cleveland street. According to police reports, a car driven by Seybert crashed into the rear end of a parked Robson Creamery truck driven by J.H. Wagner of 310 Ninth street, badly damaging both the truck and automobile. Seybert and Dillingham were taken to the hospital in a police squad car. At the hospital, Seybert was treated for multiple lacerations of the face and Dillingham for lacerations of the scalp, forehead and face. The latter was admitted for treatment.4 |
