Mrs. Slisher was born Sept. 1, 1910 in Sturgis, Mich., to Carl A. and Flora M. (Milliman) Arklie. She attended school in Sturgis and was a graduate of Sturgis High School. She was a life member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Sturgis, and a member and past president of St. John's Guild. For the past three years, she attended St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Ashtabula. She was a member and past president of Bronson, Mich., Women's Club. She also served on the Board of Trustees of the Branch County Library and the Bronson Library. Survivors include her husband Weldon Slisher, whom she married on Feb. 24, 1933; two daughters Sandra K. Kanicki of Pierpont and Nancy J. Susla of Cape Cod, Ma; one son Carl W. Slisher of Reading, Pa; nine grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two brothers John V. and Donald R. Arklie; a sister Margaret I. Arklie and her parents. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 28, 2003 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Rev. Barbara Johnson, Rector, will officiate. An hour of calling will be held from 10 a.m. until the service on Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. Envelopes will be available at the church. Arrangements are by Zaback-Ducro Funeral Home, 500 West Prospect, Ashtabula, Ohio.2 |
