Lander native Mildred Agnes Stronach Absher, 97, died Friday, June 29, 2012, at St. Andrews Village in Aurora, Colo. Theree has been a memorial service in Denver, and her ashes will be spread at a later date with those of her husband who died in 2007. She was born Nov. 14, 1914, in Lander, where she also graduated high school. After high school, she attended nursing school, which is where she met her future husband, Dr. Kemp Absher. The couple later moved to Pueblo, Colo., where Dr. Absher practiced medicine for about 45 years. She is survived by her son, Kip and his wife and family of Alaska; daughter Elsie Stone and her husband and family of Denver and Steamboat Springs, Colo; one great-granddaughter; stepsister Jeanne Lee of Lander; and cousin Shirley Reed of Lander. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Kemp Absher, in 2007; parents Alex and Bella Stronach; sister Jean; several aunts, uncles and cousins of Lander.
