He was a 1956 graduate of Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, where he was a wrestler having been undefeated in his three years of varsity wrestling. He also played half back on the school's championship football team. He enjoyed spending time with his family, woodworking, gardening, watching World War II movies, Discovery and History channels, and was a Washington Redskin fan. He worked in photography for many years in Washington, D.C. and some of those he photographed included Louis Armstrong, David Brinkley, Chet Huntley, Walter Cronkite, and Admiral Rickover. He was a printing manager for Tracor Inc. in Rockville and Cor Inc. in Falls Church, Va., and owner of Curtis Decorative Sculptures.
Surviving are daughter Linda Anne Curtis Haire and husband Mark Haire, of Duncan, Okla; son Hugh Scott Curtis and wife Amber Dahlgreen Curtis, of Westminster; granddaughters Jennifer Haire Mallow and husband Charles Mallow, of Fulton, and Catherine and Clara Curtis, of Westminster; grandson Kyle Haire and wife Julianna, of Yuma Ariz; great-grandsons Hunter and Logan Mallow, and Taylor Haire; a sister, Sallie Curtis McKenzie, of Marion, N.C; a brother, Charles R. Curtis Jr., of Nashville, Tenn; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Miles William "Bucky" Curtis.1 |
