Obit | Edward Lee's obituary was published in the Daily Record on 2 February 1932: Ed L. Curtis, one of the best known ranchers of the Four Mile district, died at his home on East Main Street about 9 o’clock Monday night following an illness of only a few days from pneumonia. Mr. Curtis was taken ill last Wednesday and his condition had been serious for some time. The prominent rancher was born in Marion, N.C. on May 8, 1871, and was 60 years of age. He had resided in Fremont County for more than 40 years. For about 20 years he made his home on Beaver Creek, where he owned a large ranch. Later he moved to Canon City, establishing his home on a ranch on Four Mile. Mr. Curtis was married twice, his first wife being Miss Hattie Pierce of Canon City. His second wife, who survives him, was formerly Miss Lexie Hall of Canon City. Besides his widow, Mr. Curtis is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Marie Wise, and a son, Edward Curtis, both of Canon City, and by another son by his first marriage, Clarence Curtis, of Tolleson, Arizona. Funeral services will be held at the family home at 2 o’clock Wednesday afternoon. Burial will be in Union Highland Cemetery at Florence under the direction of the Easton Funeral Home of Florence.6 |
