Obit | Robert Michaux (Misher)'s obituary was published in the Daily Record on 29 August 1928: Robert M. Curtis of Cyanide Avenue, Four Mile, died very suddenly at his home Wednesday morning at about 6 o’clock as a result of heart paralysis caused by bee stings. Mr. Curtis began working with the bees on his ranch about 5:30 in the morning, and in a short time came into the house saying the bees were acting badly that morning, and he was having trouble with them. He was wearing a bee mask at the time, but in spite of that he had been stung a few times, and had some stings on his legs. A heart attack occurred about 6 o’clock and although the doctor was summoned, he arrived about three minutes after Mr. Curtis had passed away. It is believed that a bee had stung him on a nerve which ran to the heart and in that manner had caused a heart commotion which killed him. Mr. Curtis was about 56 years of age, and was born in Marion, NC. He had been a resident of Canon City district for the past nine years. The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Hettie Curtis, and two sons, Archie, 22 and Kenneth, 15. Ed Curtis of East Main Street is a brother of the deceased. Funeral services will be held from the Wilson Chapel Saturday morning, September 1, at 11 o’clock. The Rev. Wm. W. Kingsley, pastor of the Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be made at Lakeside.8 |
Death* | He died on 29 August 1928 at Canon City, Fremont, Colorado, at age 60; from a heart attack prompted by bee stings; buried at Lakeside Cemetery.2,8,9 |
