Obit | Lillie Bell's obituary was published in the Progress on 13 January 1955: Mrs. Curtis' Funeral Rites Held Friday. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon at four o'clock at First Methodist church here for Mrs. Lillie B. Curtis, 74, who died suddenly Thursday morning at the home on Spring street. Rev. Cecil Heckard, pastor, officiated assisted by Rev. P. W. Tucker. Burial followed in Oak Grove cemetery. Pallbearers were J. C. Raburn, Jr., Guy Little, Amos Seagle, Lawson Brown, Arthur Evans, Forney Briscoe and Ray Brown. Daughters of the Susanna Wesley Class and the Wesleyan Sevice Guild were in charge of flowers. Mrs. Curtis was a native of McDowell county and a life long member of First Methodist church. She was the daughter of the late Sewell Curtis and Rebecca Burton Curtis. She was the widow of the late Frank A. Curtis. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. B. H. Laughridge and Mrs. L. D. Atkins, both of Marion; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; five sisters, Miss Lennie Curtis, Mrs. Sallie Tate Young, Mrs. Dan Trinks, Pleasant Gardens, Mrs. Floyd Hoppes and Mrs. Charles L.
