He lived with his daughter, Vicki Lynn (O'Daffer) Lovins in Cumming, and died of congestive heart failure. Born in Illinois on May 26, 1931, he was the son of the late Claude and Vivian O'Daffer. He had two brothers, Wilbur O'Daffer (deceased) and Vernon O'Daffer (deceased), and a sister, Violet O'Daffer of Decatur, Ill. Mr. O'Daffer was an artist and his work was often published in Katy Keene comic books. In addition to his daughter and sister, heis survived by three grandchildren, Michelle Lynn (Allan) Guthrie of Mableton, Melissa Joy (James) Read of Buford, Michael Brandon Lovins of Buford; and five great-grandchildren, Dylan Kaufman, Alexis Read, Mason Read, Ryder Read and Anabelle Guthrie. The family will honor him at a private service at a later date. He will be remembered as a loving and caring father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Gene loved auto racing, and Jeff Gordon and A.J. Foyt were his favorites. He was also a collector of die cast racing cars. He liked sports including U of I basketball and the St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He also liked to read and play cards. Most of all he loved spending quality time with his family and grandchildren. A celebration of life funeral service for Gene will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset's Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home in Georgetown with visitation two hours before the funeral on Tuesday. Mrs. Floor worked for the University of Notre Dame, South Bend Toy, South Bend Lathe, and in 1954 started at Uniroyal and worked for 20 years, making material for fuel cells, before retiring in 1975. She was a parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church and used to bowl in the Uniroyal Co-Ed League. Virginia loved spending time with her grandchildren, and especially loved to take them fishing on Hudson Lake and to Cubs games. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 PM today, April 2, 2009, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be prayed at 4 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM Friday, April 3, in Holy Cross Catholic Church, with burial to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, South Bend.2 |

She was born on July 3, 1938, in Salem, Ind., to the late Charles and Kathleen (Colglazier) Brown. After graduating from Salem High School with the class of 1956, she continued forward with her education, earning a degree in Elementary Education from DePauw University in 1960. "Lane," as she was called, was the co-owner and administrator of Sheridan Healthcare Center from 1977-1989. She was a very active member of Sheridan First United Methodist Church. She loved cooking meals for different church functions. It didn't matter what the occasion, if food was needed at the church, Mrs. Wagoner was always glad to make whatever was needed. She was also a member of the Phi Beta Psi sorority. Mrs. Wagoner loved traveling and working around the house. There was one thing however, that she enjoyed above anything else, and that was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Family was very important to Mrs. Wagoner, and she felt blessed for every moment she got to spend with them. Survivors include: husband, Norman O. Wagoner, to whom she was married on Feb. 8, 1992; four daughters, Debbie (Kevin) Carlisle of Sheridan, Kathy (Tony) Smart of Carmel, Mindy Durbin of Sheridan and Jennifer Guttman of Sheridan; two step-sons, Russell (Kristin) Wagoner of Noblesville and David Wagoner of Atlanta, Ind; 14 grandchildren, Kristy (John) Perrine, Justin Carlisle, Drew (Lauren) Carlisle, Tyler Smart, Ryan Smart, Brandon Smart, P.J. Smart, Kendra Durbin, Emily Guttman, Eliza Guttman, Aaron Wagoner, Noah Wagoner, Maya Wagoner and Tara Wagoner; three great-grandchildren, Baylen Perrine, Bowen Perrine and Hadleigh Carlisle; and one brother, Terry McKillip (Gina) of Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Arthur McKillip; and her brother, Larry Brown. Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, at Sheridan First United Methodist Church, 207 E. Second St., Sheridan. Burial will follow in Crown View Cemetery, Sheridan. The Rev. Byron Fritz will officiate. Family and friends may pay their respects from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at the church.
