Obit | Charles Franklin (Jack)'s obituary was published in the Rochester Sentinel on 22 July 1952: Charles Franklin “Jack” EASTERDAY, 67, died early this morning following a two-year illness. He had been in critical condiion for the past four or five days. A lifelong resident of Rochester, he was born here on Jan. 19, 1885, the son of Michael and Julia EASTERDAY. He was associated with the Val Zimmerman mortuary and furniture store for a half century. The deceased was twice married, first to Bertha SHIREMAN, who preceded him in death, and in 1918 to Luella JOHNSON, who survives. Other survivors are two sons, Walter [EASTERDAY], Marshall, Mich., and Chloris [EASTERDAY], Westby, Wis; three sisters, Mrs. Mary CHAMBERLAIN and Mrs. Nina GIBBONS, both of Rochester; and Mrs. Clarence WEST, Battle Creek, Mich; one brother, Elmer EASTERDAY, Marion; and seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at the Zimmerman Bros. funeral home at 2 p.m., Thursday. The Rev. Stephen GUBI will officiate. Burial will be in IOOF cemetery. The body rests at the funeral home, where friends are welcome.1 |
