Obit | Clyde Ruffin's obituary was published in the Burlington Newspaper on circa 21 December 1998: BURLINGTON — Mr. Ralph Nathaniel Roney Sr., 85, of 1653 N.C. 62, died at 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, 1998, at Alamance Regional Medical Center after three years of failing health, four weeks critical. A native of Alamance County, he was the husband for 61 years to Mrs. Thelma Terrell Roney, who survives, and the son of Mr. Clyde Ruffin Roney and Mrs. Bennie Boone Roney, both deceased. He retired from Barnwell Brothers and Associated Transport after 34 years of service as a truck driver. He was a member of Teamsters Local 391. He was a charter member of Glencoe Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Adult Sunday School Class. Survivors other than his wife of the home include three daughters, Mrs. Dean (Bennie) Hall of Burlington, Mrs. Roy (Vickie) Shepherd of Whitsett and Mrs. Randy (Cheryl) Massey of Burlington; a son, Mr. Ralph Nathaniel Roney Jr. of Haymarket, Va., and Mr. Clyde "Buck" Roney of Burlington; a sister, Mrs. Sarah Pickard of Burlington; seven half sisters, Mrs. Virginia Kernodle, Mrs. Betty Lou Cheek, Mrs. Delores Boone, Mrs. Shelby Aldridge, Mrs. Becky Jarvis, Mrs. Doris Perry and Mrs. Nancy Thomas, all of Burlington; a half brother, Mr. Herbert F. Roney of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Alene Christopher and Mrs. Pauline Caudle; and three brothers, Mr. William Chelsey Roney, Mr. Paul Boone Roney and Mr. Curtis Ruffin Roney; and a half-brother, Mr. James "Duke" Roney. The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Glencoe Baptist Church by the Rev. Darrell Massey, pastor, the Rev. Felton Massey and the Rev. Larry Janey. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes before the service. Entombment will be in the Alamance Memorial Park Mausoleum.5 |

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mike (Dawn “Skip” Roney) Pope; and eight sisters, Mrs. Virginia R. kernodle, Mrs. Betty Lou R. Cheek, Mrs. Delores Ann R. Boone, Mrs. Shelby R. Obit | Isabella (Belle)'s obituary was published in the Burlington Daily Times-News on 11 February 1963: Mrs. Belle Holt Curtis Allred, 78, of 1137 Graham – Hopedale Road died yesterday afternoon in a local hospital after three weeks of critical illness. A native of Guilford County, she was first married to the late Charles R. Curtis and was later married to Walter L. Allred, who died in 1961. She was the daughter of the late Isaac and Bettie Overman Holt and was a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Clyde Piper of Route 5, Burlington, and Mrs. Opal Welch of Graham; five sons, Jesse Willard Allred of Route 2, Burlington, Bruce Allred of Route 5, Burlington, J. Van Allred of the home, O.E. Curtis of St. Marks Road, and Rev. Wayne Curtis of Burlington; one brother, Basil Holt of Route 1, Haw River; one sister, Mrs. W.H. Keck of Route 1, Haw River; 18 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery.7 |
