BURLINGTON - Mr. Hal James Curtis, 87, of 7401 Shoe Road, Burlington died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Thursday, May 5, 2011 at noon. A native of Guilford County, he was the husband of the late Hollis Blanche Huffman Curtis and the son of Charles Curtis and Louise Wynn Curtis, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during World War II and a retired banker. Hal was a member of Low's Lutheran Church. Survivors include his son, James T. Curtis and wife Carol of Greensboro; his daughter, Ellen C. Coble and husband Gary of Graham; and four grandchildren. The funeral service will be conducted at Low's Lutheran Church on Monday, May 9, 2011 at 3 p.m. by the Rev. David Mielke. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Fellowship Hall at Low's Lutheran Church following the service and burial of Mr. Curtis. Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hollis H. Curtis, 87, of 7401 Shoe Road, died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Friday, Nov. 19, 2010. A native of Guilford County, she was the wife of Hal James Curtis, who survives and the daughter of Norman Dwight Huffman and Katie Lou Huffman, both deceased. She was a retired accountant with Kayser Roth and a member of Low's Lutheran Church. In addition to her husband of the home, survivors include one son, James T. Curtis and wife, Carol, of Greensboro; one daughter, Ellen C. Coble and husband, Gary, of Graham; and four grandchildren.The funeral service will be conducted at Low's Lutheran Church on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.5

Ed served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was later employed with Burlington Industries from where he retired. He was also a member and former deacon at Christian Bible Fellowship Church. In addition to his wife of the home, he is survived by his daughter, Vicki Curtis Allred and her husband Wes of Burlington; two sons, Charles Eddie Curtis Jr. of Burlington and Donald "Porky" Curtis and his wife Lori of Gibsonville; two sisters, Mrs. Willie Barkhurst of Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Edna Poole of Burlington; one brother, Hal Curtis of Burlington; four grandchildren, Michael, Curt, Brooke and Kelli; and two great-grandchildren, Cayden and Callison.

Mrs. Curtis was a native of Alamance county and spent a number of years in Burlington. She was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. E.M. Cooke and wife of William Cicero Curtis. Pallbearers were: Cecil Cooke, Euclid Cooke, Robert Cooke, Archibald Cooke, G. David Curtis and McBride Holt.10

The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. today at the Evangelical Methodist Church of Gibsonville by the Rev. Paul Speagle, pastor, and the Rev. Harold Thompson, former pastor. Burial will be in the Gibsonville City Cemetery.5

A native of Alamance County, Curtis was the former owner and president of Alamance Office Supply and a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was a former deacon. He was also a former president of the Burlington Merchants Association, former member of the advisory board of the Salvation army, former member of the Burlington Rotary Club, and a former director of the local Boy Scouts of America.
Surviving are daughter, Mrs. Catherine Kerns of Burlington; sons, George David Curtis III and Michael Warren Curtis of Burlington; sister Mrs. Martha C. Hudgins of Burlington; four grandchildren.4

GRAHAM - Harold Pickett Curtis, 84, of Graham passed away at his residence on Wednesday, February 24, 2021.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of 64 years to Nancy S. Curtis, who survives and the son of George Elmo Curtis and Mabel Jane Crabtree Curtis, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U. S. National Guard. Mr. Curtis was a beekeeper and owner of Harold P. Curtis Honey Company. He was also Fire Chief in LaBelle, Florida. Harold was a member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church.

In addition to his wife of their home, survivors include a daughter, Rene Curtis Pratt and husband Dwayne of LaBelle, FL; three sons, Harold James Curtis and wife Beverly of LaBelle, FL, Anthony Curtis and wife Debbie of Graham, and Cale Curtis and wife Kim of Graham; brother, Elliott Curtis and wife Elsie of LaBelle, FL; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham on Sunday, February 28, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. by Rev. Keith Porter and Rev. Andy Wood with the family receiving friends from 12:00 noon until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery.4
