Surviving are four brothers, Isaac, Archie, John and Peter Curtis, and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Holmes and Mrs. Tabitha Wheeler.11 |

Obit | Adam Ashley's obituary was published in the Unknown Newspaper on 22 December 1925: Ashley Curtis, a well-known farmer of Adams Township, died at his home near Crown Center Sunday evening at 6:20 o’clock after a six week illness of neuritis and heart trouble. Mr. Curtis was 68 years of age and is survived by his wife and two daughters, Mrs. Joy Greeson, of Crown Center, and Mrs. Dora Lewis, of Belle Union. Funeral services will be held at Mt. Tabor Wednesday morning at 11:00 o’clock conducted by the Rev. Masten of Belle Union.10 |

Obit | Alva's obituary was published in the Unknown Newspaper on 28 June 1952: Alva Curtis, age 73, who suffered a stroke Tuesday, died this morning at 1:50 o’clock at his home near Monrovia. He had been ill for the past three years. The son of Emeziah and Rachel Mosier Curtis, he was born in Adams Township February 4, 1879. On Aug. 1, 1900, he was married to Claudia Dorsett, who survives. Mr. Curtis was a retired farmer and a member of the Hall Christian Church. Surviving besides the widow are a daughter, Mrs. Merle Tudor, and a grandson, William Tudor of Monrovia, R.R. 1, and three brothers, Ed Curtis of Stilesville, and Frank and Clifford Curtis of Monrovia. An infant son, Ivory Leon, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Christian Church in Crown Center. Burial will be in the Cloverdale Cemetery.10 |

Mrs. Curtis was fifty years old December 12. She was the daughter of Joel Y. Moore, of Jefferson Township, who died some twenty years ago. Four daughters and three sons survive their mother; three daughters are married and two of the sons. Mrs. John Kivett, Mrs. J.W. Dilley and Mrs. Jesse Williams are the three sisters of the deceased yet living. Mrs. Curtis was a member of the Lambs Creek Christian Church. The funeral will be held at the Lambs Creek Church, Sunday morning at ten o’clock, and will be conducted by Rev. Moss. Burial at the Foster Cemetery.4 |

Obit | William A.'s obituary was published in the Unknown Newspaper on 22 September 1960: William A. Curtis, age 84, died at his home, 389 North Park Avenue, Wednesday afternoon at 1 o’clock. He had been in failing health for five years and bedfast for the past three months. Funeral services will be in the Cure and Hensley Chapel Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock conducted by the Rev. Earl Marvel. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery. The son of Calvin and Mary Moore Curtis, he was born Feb. 16, 1876, in Jefferson Township. Mrs. Curtis was married to Lottie Purvis, who died in 1903 and in 1905 he married Edna Hatley, who survives him. He had lived in Morgan County all of his life, coming to Martinsville from Jefferson Township after his marriage. He was employed with the Branch Grain and Seed Company for 33 years and also worked for the Martinsville Milling Company several years. He attended the Mission Church on Elliott Avenue. Survivors beside the wife are four daughters, Mrs. Nelson Beecham, Mrs. Ernest Grounds, Mrs. Robert Krise and Mrs. Flossie Stiles of Martinsville; three sons, Stanley Curtis, Cloverdale R.R. 3, Hugh Curtis, Martinsville, and William E. Curtis of St. Louis; 17 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Anna Dixon of this city. A daughter, two sons, three sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.11 |
