He was born in Martinsville, Indiana on August 2, 1929 to the late Fred and Flossie B. (Curtis) Stiles. He was a graduate of Martinsville High School with the class of 1947 and served his country with the U.S. Air Force during the 1950's. He was a member of the St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Martinsville, as well as, the Knights of Columbus. He was a floor covering specialist for many years and had worked for J & S Linoleum in Martinsville and Marion Adams in Mooresville until his retirement. He married Patricia A. (Gillespie) Stiles on February 14, 1953. She preceded him in death on February 4, 2006. Survivors include 2 sons, Joe K. and Steven F. Stiles both of Martinsville; 4 daughters, Sue Ellen Hammans and Karen M. Prather both of Martinsville, Nancy A. Vondersaar of Indianapolis and Patricia M. Hanson of Missouri; 1 sister, Ruth Fraker of Martinsville; 10 grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and one grandson, Nicholas Hammans. Father John Hall and Father Mark Gottemoeller will co-officate a celebration of life funeral mass on Tuesday, July 14th at 10:00 AM at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Martinsville. Family and friends are encouraged to visit on Monday, July 13th from 4-8:00 PM at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center and from 9-10:00 AM on Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow in St. Martin's Cemetery.3 |

Eugene Curtis on Dec. 17, 1944. He died Sept. 5, 1999. Mildred was owner of Personality Catering from the mid-1950s until the early 1990s. Prior to that, she worked at J.J. Newberry's and A.A.A., both in Martinsville. She enjoyed baking and quilting. Mildred won numerous awards at the Morgan County Fair and the State Fair for her baking and quilting entries. After retiring, she entered several beef cook-offs and traveled throughout the southeast United States participating in these contests. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Martinsville. Survivors include one son, Larry Curtis and wife Sue of Martinsville; two granddaughters, Leslie Golden and husband Bryan, and Kim Williams and husband Pete; one great-granddaughter, Lauren Golden; and two great-grandsons, Tyler Golden and Curtis P. Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband; father; mother; two brothers, Harry J. Fishel and Albert "Red" Fishel; and two sisters, Julia Hodson and Geneva Rawlins.Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the New South Park Cemetery in Martinsville with Dr. Mark Poindexter officiating. riends may call 4-8 p.m. Monday at the Costin Funeral Chapel.2 |
