Cleo Mills, 89, of Englewood, and formerly of Murphy, N.C., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday evening, April 13, 2005, at Woods Memorial Hospital. She was born Feb. 27, 1916, in Graham County, N.C., and lived most of her life in Cherokee County, N.C., and McMinn County. A daughter of the late Christopher C. and Donna Garrett Mills, she was a graduate of Murphy High School in Murphy, N.C. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Englewood and was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Christopher and Clinton Mills; and three sisters, Roma Graves, Thelma Gaddis and Stella O'Dell.
Survivors include four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Marie Graves, Christine O´Dell and Louella and Godfrey Graves, all of Murphy, N.C., and Jean and Mark Dockery of Englewood; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Hoover M. and Elizabeth Mills and William B. and Barbara Mills, all of Englewood; one sister-in-law, Georgia Mae Mills of Springfield, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the south chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Hensley and the Rev. Jimmy McCarter officiating. Burial will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens and will conclude with the White Dove Liberation Ceremony. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.3

Hoover Marvin Mills, 78, of Englewood, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007, at Woods Memorial Hospital. A native of Murphy, N.C., and a former resident of Springfield, Ohio, he was a son of the late Christopher C. and Donna Garrett Mills. He was the best husband, father, grandfather and friend. Most of all, he loved the Lord and his testimony was his life, which has touched countless lives. His legacy will forever live through the lives of his family. He was a faithful member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and was a graduate of Murphy High School in Murphy, N.C. He worked at Westinghouse in Columbus, Ohio, for 25 years and retired from Textron Automotive in Athens in 1993. He served in the U.S. Navy from July 15, 1948, to June 5, 1952, on the U.S.S. Helena CA-75. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a great gardener, an avid beekeeper, a faithful Chargers basketball fan and loved camping. He was preceded in death by one son, Marvin Lee Mills; three brothers, Frank, Christopher and Clinton Mills; and five sisters, Roma Graves, Thelma Gaddis, Stella O´Dell, Cleo Mills and Lou Ella Graves.
Survivors include his wife and best friend, Elizabeth Mills; three sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Beverly Mills, Timothy and Jane Mills and S. Chris and Rosemary Mills; six grandchildren, Haley, Kaylyn, Whitney, Christina, Merideth and Christian; one great-granddaughter, Makayla; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Marie Graves, Christine O´Dell of Murphy, N.C., and Jean and Mark Dockery of Englewood; one brother and sister-in-law, William and Barbara Mills of Englewood; one sister-in-law, Georgia Mills of Springfield, Ohio; one brother-in-law, Godfrey Graves of Murphy, N.C; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Sunday at Zion Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Hensley officiating with a special message from Pastor Scott Cardin. Family and friends will assemble at Zion Hill Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Monday and will proceed to McMinn Memory Gardens for the 11 a.m. burial, which will conclude with the White Dove Liberation Ceremony. Pallbearers will be Tracy Brown, Bob Mills, Tom Mills, Allen Riden, Scott Cass, Josh Miller and Bryan Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Dockery, Terry Dockery, Robert Riden, Chris Allen, Erik Rohe, Mark Raper and John Proffitt.3
