Obit | Dennis's obituary was published in the Tennessean on 14 February 2004: Dennis Garrett, age 82, February 14, 2004, LaVergne, TN, formerly of Murphy, NC, died Saturday, February 14, 2004 at the Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, TN. A native of Cherokee County, NC, he was a son of the late Monroe and Linchie Louise Abernathy Garrett. Mr. Garrett was a World War II U. S. Army Veteran, serving in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was a retired truck driver with the TVA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Malissie Killian Garrett; a brother, Dewey Garrett and a sister, Dellnore Garrett. He is survived by two sons, Jerry F. Garrett of Soddy Daisy, TN and J. D. Garrett of Joelton, TN; one daughter, Margaret A. Taylor of Nashville, TN; eight grandchildren, Cicely, Heather, Morgan and Dalton Garrett, and Jeff, Jimmy, Mitzi and Betsy Garrett; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
