Claude Neville Curtis, 71, of Otto, died Monday. May 5. 2003. at his residence. A native of Macon County he was the son of the late Charlie S Curtis and Minnie McCall Curtis. In addition to his parents. he was preceded in death by two sisters. Catherine Cunningham and Christine Brabson and three step grandchildren.
He retired from the Otto Post Office as postmaster; was a member of Gideons International; vice president of WNC A.B.C; former president of Otto Community Development: coached Little League, refereed football games: 911 interim director for two years: chief deputy sheriff: Sunday school superintendent: former adult Sunday school teacher; chairman of Coweeta Baptist Church trustees; active in the church choir; and member of Boundary Hunting Club for 28 years.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Ruby Belcher Curtis; one son; Keith Curtis and wife, Lisa. of Otto; three daughters. Denise Southard and husband, Steve, of Franklin; Glenda Loose and husband. Cliff, of Otto; Sheila McClure and husband. Richard of Franklin: one stepson. Lawrence Lowery of Mountain Rest, S.C; one stepdaughter, Ruth Martin of Athens, Tenn.: four brothers, Verlin Curtis of Franklin. Jimmy Curtis of Simpsonville, S.C; Charles Curtis Jr. of Franklin and Willie Curtis of Berea, Ky; four sisters, Elsie Brendle and Judy Carpenter of Franklin, Barbara Bradley of Otto, and Polly Lovell of Groveland. Fla; seven grandchildren, five step-grandchildren: eight step great-grandchildren: and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Thursday. May 8, in the chapel of-Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Davis Hooper officiated. Burial was in the Coweeta Baptist Church Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108. Pallbearers were Tony Curtis, Tommy Curtis, Mike Bradley, Dale Curtis. John L. Shearl and Tommy Bennett. The members of the Boundary Hunting Club were honorary pallbearers.4

Willie Rogers Curtis, 81, died Thursday, March 24, 2011, at St. Joseph Berea Hospital. He was born in Otto, NC to the late Charles Sutton and Minnie Leona McCall Curtis. He retired from the U.S. Forest Service after 30 years of service as a research project leader. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, a pilot and he loved to work with wood. Mr. Curtis received his B.S. degree from North Carolina State and his master's degree from the University of Minnesota, St. Paul.
Mr. Curtis was preceded in death by two sisters, Christine Brabson and Catherine Cunningham; and one brother, Claude Curtis. Mr. Curtis is survived by his wife, Margaret Ann Curtis of Berea; his daughter, Susan (Calvin) Vaughn of Lancaster, KY; his son, Larry (Kay) Curtis of Murfreesboro, TN; his sisters, Polly (Lewis) Lovell of Elizabeth City, NC, Judy Carpenter of Franklin, NC, Barbara Bradley of Franklin, NC, and Elsie Brendle of Franklin, NC; his brothers, Charles (Edna) Curtis of Franklin, NC, Verlin (Marvel) Curtis of Franklin, NC, and Jimmy (Tommie) Curtis of Simpsonville, SC; and three grandchildren, Karen Curtis, Sarah Vaughn and Haley Vaughn. A memorial service for Mr. Curtis will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, April 9, at Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Duane Corle officiating. She loved to cook and grow flowers, and was a member of Watauga Baptist Church. She is survived by four daughters, Betty Wiley of Oakboro, NC, Gladys Lockler of Charlotte, NC, Linda Delaney and her husband Gary of Cornelia, GA, and Cathy Pierce and her husband Chris of Locust, NC; a son, Jimmy Scroggs and his wife, Gayle of Waterford, Michigan; three sisters, Judy Carpenter and Barbara Bradley both of Franklin, NC and Pauline Lovell of Elizabeth City, NC; three brothers, Charles Curtis, Jr. of Sylva, NC, Jimmy Curtis of Simpsonville, SC and Verlin Curtis of Franklin, NC; fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and three greatgreat-grandchildren also survive. Mrs. Edith Ann Hilton Curtis, wife of Wilson L. Curtis, of Franklin, Route 1 (Cartoogechaye section), died unexpectedly Friday, July 5, at 1 a.m. at her home. She was 44. Funeral services for Mrs. Curtis, a native of Hiawassee, Ga., were held the 7th at 2:30 p.m. at the Cartoogechaye Baptist Church, of which she was a member, by the Rev. Gene Southards and the Rev. Andrew Cloer. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Frank, Charlie, and Prince Curtis, Carroll Irvan, Morris Marlow, and Hillard Solesbee. Born Aug. 5, 1918, Mrs. Curtis was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew C. Hilton, of Sautee, Ga. She was married July 19, 1941 in Young Harris, Ga., to Mr. Curtis, a native of this county. She was a Sunday School teacher in her church.
Surviving, in addition to her husband and parents, are a son, John David Curtis, of the home; a daughter, Miss Jo Ann Curtis, of the home, and Greensboro; four brothers, Rex and Bobby Hilton, of Sautee, Jack Hilton, who is with the U.S. Navy in Norfolk, Va; and Steve Hilton, of Clarkesville, Ga; six sisters, Mrs. Reba Cantrell, of Cornelia, Ga., Mrs. Betty Jo Marlow, of Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. Mabel Brock, also of Atlanta, Mrs. Dorothy Irvan, of Toccoa, Ga., and Mrs. Peggy Seagars, of California. Bryant Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangement.3
