Mary Curtis, 80, of Hayesville, died Saturday, May 27, 2006, in a Murphy medical center. A native and lifetime resident of Clay County, she was the daughter of the late Roe and Flora Penland Long and the wife of the late Roger Curtis, who died Aug. 18, 1989. She was the owner and operator of Mary's Beauty Shop for more than 40 years. She attended Ledford's Chapel United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her sister, Betty Jobes and three brothers, Gerald, Scott and Bill Long.
Surviving are four daughters, Susie Curtis of Akin, S.C., Sally Brock and husband, Tim, Rosemary Coleman and husband, Jim and Cindy Curtis, all of Hayesville; two sons, Billy Curtis and wife, Rhonda, of Candler and Jim Curtis of Hayesville; seven grandsons, Craig and Doug Brock, Zachary and Cody Curtis, and Austin, Clint and Cass Coleman; and several nieces, nephews and many special friends. The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Monday in Hayesville First United Methodist Church with Revs. Jackie Sellers, Jimmy Rogers, Kirk Hatherly and Turner Guidry officiating. Interment will be in Union Hill Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.¹
