Obit | Walter Leroy's obituary was published in the Strode Funeral Home on 28 March 2014: Walter Leroy Curtis, 85, of Tompkinsville, passed away Friday, March 25, 2016 at his home. He was born October 24, 1930 in Monroe County, KY to the late Vernie Curtis and Flora Mae Bartley Curtis. He was retired, having worked several jobs in his life time including, Cudahay Cheese Plant, Pepsi-Cola Plant, Chevrolet Garage (Tompkinsville Motors), Deputy Circuit Clerk, Deputy Sheriff, Dispatcher (City, County and State Police) and Wal Mart, he was also a US Army Veteran of the Korean War. He was united in marriage on September 5, 1959 to the former Jessie Pearl Sheffield.
He is survived by his wife: Jessie Pearl Curtis of Tompkinsville, two sons: Dennis Curtis and wife Beth of Tompkinsville, Jackie Sheffield and wife Teresa of Gamaliel, one daughter: Danetta Wilson and husband Stevie Joe of Tompkinsville, three brothers: Randall Curtis of Tompkinsville, Duane Curtis of White House, TN, Jacob Curtis of Bowling Green, one sister: Tildon Murphy of Tompkinsville. Seven grandchildren: Jonathan Sheffield (Teresa), Jamie Sheffield, Leslie Wilson Wheeler (Jordan), Alesa Jo (AJ) Wilson (fiancé Jeremy Page), Kaitlyn Curtis Hammer (Ryan), Joseph Wilson, Brilee Curtis (fiancé Derick Irvin), three great grandchildren: Tucker England, Tate Sheffield and Tahlia Sheffield. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother: Ralph Curtis. Funeral services will be conducted, Tuesday, March 29 at 2:00 PM at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville with burial to follow in Monroe County Memorial Lawn. Military rites will be performed at graveside by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow. Visitation will be after 2:00 PM on Monday and after 7:30 AM on Tuesday at Strode Funeral Home in Tompkinsville.2 |
