Obit | Robert Terrell's obituary was published in the Courier-Journal on 18 January 2009: Robert T. Curtis, 71, died Friday, January 16, 2009 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. A native of Cumberland County, KY, he was the son of the late Dewey Simpson and Nellie Pearl Shaw Curtis. Mr. Curtis was a veteran of the United States Army and was a former employee of Philip Morris. He later became vice- president of the BCTW International Union in the United States and Canada. He was also a past president of the Kentucky State AFL-CIO; a past member of the board of Norton Hospital and was appointed to serve on the Kentucky Crime Commission. Mr. Curtis was a member of the Masonic Lodge and served as a former president of the Oldham County Country Club. Survivors include his wife, Donna Mann Curtis, of Eminence, KY; a son, Robert Douglas Curtis, of Charlotte, NC; a daughter, Suzanne Curtis Patrick of Bardstown, KY; brothers, Buddy Curtis (Pat) of Eminence, Edward Curtis, of Memphis, TN and Terry Curtis (Jo) of Utica, IN; sisters, Elizabeth Wilson of Marrowbone, KY, Shirley Nash (Gene) of Greenwood, IN and Becky Wabnitz (Glenn) of Nortonville, KY; eight grandchildren; and his faithful dog, Sadie. Funeral services for Mr. Curtis will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Hall-Taylor Funeral Home of Shelbyville with the Reverend Michael Brunzo, Sr. officiating.2 |
