Obit | John Andrew's obituary was published in the an unknown place on 9 February 1939: John Curtis Killed In Chicago. Victim of Hit-and-Run Driver As He Was Alighting From a Car. John Curtis, son of K. D. Curtis, of Jasper, was struck down by a hit-and-run automobile driver in Chicago Friday, Jan. 27, and instantly killed. The killer was never found, making a complete get-away. Mr. Curtis was returning from work at the time, and had just a lighted from a car. He is survived by his wife and one son. Another son was the victim of a drowning accident about a year ago. He will be remembered as assisting his father in the register’s office at Jasper, and has many friends in Marion County, who were shocked to hear of the occurrence. Interment was made in a cemetery near Chicago.7 |
