Survivors include three sons, Dennis Phillips of Prairie Grove, Joe Phillips of Avoca and Mike Phillips of Little Rock; a daughter, Karen Warren of Guy; a stepson, Bobby Joe Phillips of Summers; a sister, Wanda Arnold of Fayetteville; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Jack Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Prairie Grove Cemetery.2 |

For quite some time he has been longing to be reunited with his wives Frances Willette and Jean Bowling; sister, Betty Josephine; brother, Lloyd; mother, Sadie Evalina; son, Thomas Ray and the many others that left him during his 90 years. Born July 13, 1923 to Neeley Marion and Sadie Evalina Curtis of Prarie Grove, Arkansas. Enlisted on May 7, 1943 with the 404th Platoon US Marine Corps. Where his duties consisted of Amphibian Tractor Driver. Served in the Asiatic Pacific area; Marshall Islands; Soloman Islands and the Marianas Islands. Participated in action against the enemy on Kwajalein Atoll in Guam and it was there that he was wounded and earned the Purple Heart medal at the rank of Sergeant (TW).
In 2006 he celebrated 50 years as a Mason with the Masonic Lodge #762. Employed at Hippodrome Motors before being hired with the Metro Davidson County Sheriff's Department. Retiring in 1991 with 18 ½ years. One of his favorite hobbies was bowling. Traveling in leagues across the states bringing home trophy after trophy. Baptized in 2007 at Sycamore Creek. He lived "down in the bend" (Neely's Bend in Madison) for over 50 years. Gaining friendships that lasted until his last breath. He then moved to Maybelle Carter and the to Grace Manor Assisted Living. He is survived by a son, Terry Michael (Linda) Curtis; a daughter, Deborah Fay (Ray) Wilson; grandchildren and great grandchildren.2 |

Obit | Charles William's obituary was published in the NW Arkansas Times on 6 October 1980: Fort Smith - Charles William Dameron, 85, of Fort Smith died Friday in that city. Born May 6, 1894 in Sherwood, Tex., the son of Robert Lee and Margaret Eubank Dameron, he moved to West Fork in 1909. He attended West Fork schools and the College of Agriculture of Russellville Polytechnic College. He retired in 1962 from the Fort Smith Industrial Co. he owned and operated for several years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Smith. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lola Dameron of the home; a brother, Robert of Greenland; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Stearns of Little Rock and Mrs. Rebecca Williams of Fayetteville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service was scheduled at 1 p.m. today at the Fort Smith First Presbyterian Church with burial in West Fork Cemetery under direction of Fentress Mortuary of Fort Smith.4 |
