Obit | Andrew's obituary was published in the Olney Advocate on 27 July 1944: Andrew Curtis, 66, died Monday afternoon at a hospital in Anna. He had been in ill health for sometime. Andrew was the son of William and Elizabeth Crabtree Curtis, husband of Ida. Funeral services were held at Schaub Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Aldrich in charge and interment in the Maple Dale cemetery. The deceased is survived by the following children: Forrest Curtis, of Hammond, IN; Mrs. Martha Payne, of Noble; William Curtis of Olney; Mrs. Zella Curtis and Mary Payne of Olney: two brothers, Ralph Bryan of St. Louis and Mrs. Roma Rodgers, of Olney, and three sisters, Mrs. Daisy Gentz, of West Salem; Mrs. Mina Easton, of Paris, and Mrs. Effie Pritchard, of Grayville.7 |

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, one granddaughter and one great-grandson. Charlie was a U.S. Navy veteran and member of the American Legion. He was a former correctional captain at Vandalia Correctional Center and retired maintenance supervisor for the Vandalia school system.3 |

Curtis, Sumner; Terry Curtis, Longview, Tx; daughters, Patsy Johnson, West Liberty; Lois Worstell, Olney and Carrie Lane, Olney; one sister, Ruth Marks, Olney.21 grandchildren, 22 great -grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, two brothers, one son-in-law and one grandson.4 |
