Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Farris-Feuerborn Memorial Chapel, Colony, with the Rev. Lee Bahney officiating. She was born March 24, 1922, at Wayne, Neb., to Herbert and Effie (Carpenter) Reuter. She grew up in Wayne, moving to Colony in 1947. She was a homemaker. She married Edgar L. Tressler Aug. 10, 1947 at Council Bluffs, Iowa. He died in 1988. She attended the Colony United Methodist Church. She was a member of United Methodist Women, Eastern Star, Y.S. Club, and the Mt. Pleasant Club, all of Colony. Survivors include two sons, Charles E. Tressler, San Bernadino, Calif., and Herbert G. Tressler, Paola; a daughter, Linda E. Carlson, Burdick; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Hansen. She will be buried in Colony Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. The family will greet friends from noon to 1 p.m. Friday. Memorial contributions may be made to Colony United Methodist Church or Lutheran Home Inc., Herington.5 |

They were the parents of Emma Alpharetta (Etta), Guy born in 1881, and Claude Earl born weighing 14 3/4 pounds. Pioneers used to put a "flat iron" on the scales with the baby when it was first weighed (if the baby seemed a little small) to make it seem like a big healthy baby. Claude turned out to be a normal healthy baby. The next two daughters lived only a few days. In 1890 the mother Della died. In August 1895 John R. Maynes married Mrs. Cora Farrington Jackson, a widow with two children Lulu 7, and Homer Jackson 5. Four children were born to John and Cora. Verne, Joe, Marjorie and Marion.2 |
