Ellen was born on July 5, 1930 to Devoe and Thelma (Wagoner) Slisher in Macy, IN. The family moved to Michigan City in 1934 and raised their children in the part of town that was called Canada. Ellen was blessed with two marriages and two beloved husbands. She is survived by her beloved husband and friend, Russell A. Schlaak. Also surviving are daughter Patricia and son-in-law James McCann, Valparaiso, IN; son John Robert and daughter-in-law Kay (Schubert) Miller, Valparaiso, IN; stepson Alan Lee Schlaak, LaPorte, IN; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Visitation for family and friends will take place on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home located at 613 Washington St., Michigan City, IN. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Geisen-Carlisle Funeral Home with Pastor Kim Cole of Michigan City Christian Church officiating.
