DICKINSON — Wallace Dean Cary, 81, passed away December 15, 2007. He was a resident of Dickinson, Texas, and has lived in the Bay Area for over 40 years. He was born in Stanton County, Nebraska on June 18, 1926. His parents, Charles and Clara Nettie Cary, were descendants of Midwestern pioneers. Wallace was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wisner, Nebraska. Wallace married Phyllis Arlene Thompson on November 16, 1946 in Norfolk, Nebraska. He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Cary; daughter, Barbara Rabe and husband Richard of Wisner, Nebraska; sons, Scott Cary and wife Merridith of Austin, Texas; Bill Cary of Dickinson, Texas; sister, Margaret Lueders of Los Angeles, California; grandchildren, Jerry Rabe, Ryan Rabe, Julie Andrade, Megan Cary, Faith Cary, Chaise Cary, Kelsea Whitney, Logan Cary; and 8 great-grandchildren. Mr. Cary is preceded in death by his parents, eleven brothers and sisters and one son Richard Cary.

Mr. Cary undertook many endeavors in his lifetime including farming, carpentry, shrimping and property management. He was a lover of animals, and could not bear to see an animal go hungry. Friends and family will remember his stories and outlook on politics. He was a member of the Dickinson Coffee club and very much enjoyed the political discussions with his good friends. The family celebrated his life at a private service. Burial will be held at a later date in Pilger, Nebraska.
