She was a homemaker, a member of Macy Mother’s Club, a 50-year member of the Macy Order of the Eastern Star and a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Rochester. Survivors include two daughters, Imogene WILSON and husband Ed, Rochester; Betty Jo BENEDICT and husband DeWayne, Kokomo; two sons, Ron BABER, with wife Nila, Rochester; Richard BABER, with wife Mary LaVerne, Peru; on stepson, Richard BRIGGS and wife Joyce, Macy; 14 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth HECKATHORN and wife Mary Jane, Monon; a sister-in-law, Gloria HECKATHORN, Nyona Lake; nieces and nephews. Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Methodist Church here, with the Rev. Roberts of Fayette, officiating. Burial will be in Floral Grove Cemetery at West Unity. The body is at the Thompson Funeral Home at Pioneer, and on Tuesday will be taken to the home of the son, Perl, remaining there until time for the services at the church.4

In 1948 in North Manchester he married Mary Lou HATLER, who died Oct. 28, 1969. In February 1971 he married Inez CARNES, who survives. He was a meat cutter in Indiana for about 10 years. He worked for Peter Eckrich and Sons in Fort Wayne. He moved to Scottsdale, Ariz., in 1979 and worked at Curwood Inc., and in 1985 he moved to Napa. He was an Army veteran and a member of the American Legion, the Masonic Lodge of North Manchester, the El Zaribah Shrine Temple and Scottish Rite of Phoenix, Ariz. Surviving with his wife are three daughters, Melissa MENARD, Soquel, Calif., and Denise BURCH, both of Napa; a son, Jeffrey [BURCH], Phoenix, Ariz; two sisters, Geneva GRONINGER, Plainfield, and Nina DeFORD, Wabash, and six brothers, Max BURCH, Wabash; Byron BURCH, Indianapolis; Estil BURCH, Silver Lake; Gene BURCH, Rochester, and Harvey BURCH and Bud BURCH, both of North Manchester. Preceding in death was a brother, Sam [BURCH]. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Bender Chapel in North Manchester. Burial will be in the Oaklawn Cemetery in North Manchester. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday; there will be a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.3

An employee of the Bendix Corporation at South Bend the last 15 years, he had resided in that city for eight years. Prior to that, he had spent the majority of his life in Rochester. His marriage was July 1, 1922, at St. Joseph, Mich., to Pauline CLAY, who survives. He was a member of the Rochester I.O.O.F. lodge. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Burwyn (Almyrta) BLUE and Mrs. Robert (Georgia Ann) DELP, both of Rochester; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Dell (Elva) WAGONER, R.R. 5, Rochester; Mrs. Lulu BRYANT, R.R. 5, Rochester, and Mrs. George (Belle) HAMMOND, Rochester; two brothers, Arthur [SNYDER], Marion, O., and Frederick [SNYDER], Huntington, and several nieces and nephews. A sister and two brothers preceded him in death. Last rites will be Thursday at 2 p.m; in the Foster & Good funeral home with the Rev. Graham MARSH officiating. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. cemetery, where the local I.O.O.F. lodge will conduct graveside rites. Friends may call at the funeral home after 1 p.m. Wednesday. The family requests that contributions other than flowers be made to the cancer fund.1
