He was united in marriage to LaVerne Louise Koeller in 1947 at Montgomery City. John was a member of Hermann V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 4182.
John is survived by three daughters, Glenda Chandler, Virginia Beach, Va., Marlene Mahoney and husband David, Washington, and Darlene Horn and husband Mannie, Van Buren, Ark; three sons, Felix A. Frye and wife Rosemary, Joseph A. Frye and wife Sandy, all of Washington, and John Vernon Frye and wife Gwen, Clinton, Iowa; one sister, Ruth Poindexter, Mexico, Mo; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, LaVerne Louise Frye, May 3, 2011; parents, Felix and Callie Frye; one sister, Jewell Williams; two brothers, Homer Frye and Eugene Frye; one great-granddaughter, Alijene Brouwer; and one great-grandson, Brock Daniel Mahoney. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, April 17, at Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, A funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 18, at the funeral home, with the Rev. William Zastrow officiating. Burial, with full military honors, followed at Hugo Cemetery, New Florence. Memorials may be given to Hugo Cemetery or V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 4182, in care of Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann.³

Howard Vernon Frye, 91, of Montgomery City, Missouri, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2014 at Missouri Veteran's Home in Mexico, Missouri. Mr. Frye was born in New Florence, Missouri on June 2, 1923, the son of the late William R. and Elmary Hudnall) Frye. He was the husband of Marie D. (Boone) Frye. They were married May 1, 1981 at First Baptist Church, Montgomery City, MO. Marie survives in Union, Missouri. Howard proudly served in the U.S.Army Air Corp during WWII. After being discharged from the Air Corp he was in the reserves for three years. Howard was a member of Methodist Presbyterian Church, Montgomery City, Missouri and the American Legion Post 122 of Warrenton, Missouri. He worked as a carpenter and also worked for Binkley Manufacturing in Warrenton for over 32 years as a welder and maintenance man. He enjoyed fishing, camping, wood working, being outdoors and visiting many national parks. He loved blue grass music.

Along with his wife Marie, Howard is also survived by three daughters, Sharon Wilson of Perry, Georgia, Sandra Harrelson & husband Sam of New Hartford, Missouri and Jana Bledsoe & husband Jay of Hartsburg, Missouri, by eight step-children, Barbara McGee of Warrenton, Missouri, Ruth Elaine Wells & husband John of Jonesburg, Missouri, Richard Dunlap & wife Janis of Jonesburg, Missouri, Carol Swope & husband Robert of Union, Missouri, Joyce White of Iowa, Diana Dunlap of Davenport, Iowa, James Dunlap & wife Marcia of New Florence, Missouri and Sandra Conley & husband Otis of Tullahoma, Tennessee. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law Helen Frye of Rhineland, Missouri, and Mary Jo Frye of Mexico, Missouri, by six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, by 26 step grandchildren, 54 step great grandchildren, by four step great-great grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, by a sister Liona Dixon and four brothers Lester, Carl, Harold & Walter Frye.
Visitation will be Saturday 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Methodist Presbyterian Church, Montgomery City, Missouri, where funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Ed Hankinson officiating. Burial will be at Montgomery City Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Methodist Presbyterian Church or MO Veterans Home in Mexico, MO. C/O Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral.²

Raymond "Mike" Fry, 89, of St. Charles, formerly of Montgomery City, died Sunday, October 6, 2002. He was born September 28, 1913, to Charlie and Ella Fry of Callaway County. He married Ruby Lee McCormack of Mineola on January 25, 1939. She survives. Other survivors include four sons, James Fry of Jonesburg, Larry Fry of St. Charles, Robert Fry of New Melle and Richard Fry of Warrington, a daughter, Gladys Havener of St. Charles, a sister, Stella Leona Vincent of Fulton, a brother, Ernest Fry of the state of Texas, fourteen grandchildren and twenty-one great-grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Services are at 1:00PM Wednesday at Schlanker Funeral Home in Montgomery City with Reverend Kenneth Cleeton officiating. Interment will be in the Montgomery County Cemetary.⁵
