He had resided his entire life in the Macy area and was a former teacher at the Macy high school. He had served as trustee of Allen township in Miami county, Miami county treasurer and recorder. He was a member of the Macy Christian church where he had taught the Men’s Bible class for over 50 years. Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Virginia KIBIGER, South Bend; Mrs. Gerald (Joanna) KNAUFF, Rochester; Miss Willodean WILSON, R.R. 2, Macy; seven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren. One son, Robert [WILSON], two grandsons and five sisters preceded in death. Final rites will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Macy Christian church. The Rev. Chester WALTHER will officiate. Burial will be in the Plainview cemetery at Macy. Friends may call at the Foster & Good funeral home after 7 p.m. Tuesday until 11 a.m. Thursday and at the church one hour prior to services.8 |

Obit | Robert Bruce's obituary was published in the Rochester Sentinel on 28 October 1935: Robert Bruce WILSON, 26, formerly of Macy, Ind., passed away Saturday night in a hotel in Butler, Pa. His body was found at the foot of a doorway beneath his room and deep lacerations about his head and arms, inflicted when he fell into a glass doorway were instrumental in his death. Mr. Wilson’s death was attributed to heart trouble, however, as he had suffered several attacks since he was ill from the small pox a little over two years ago. The fatal stroke it was believed came while he was walking up the stairs to his room. Robert Bruce, son of Scudder and Herma (WHITTENBERGER) WILSON was born in Macy on December 15, 1908. He was a graduate of the Macy high school. For a few years he engaged in the insurance business in Peru and later removed to Rochester, N.Y., where he was employed as an advertising solicitor for a Telephone directory printing establishment. Mr. Wilson was also a talented musician. On August 17th, 1929 he was united in marriage to Antionette BLUM, the ceremony being performed in Rochester, N.Y. The deceased was a member of the Macy Christian church. The survivors are the widow and a daughter Marilyn Jean [WILSON], aged 4; his parents; three sisters, Mrs. Virginia KIBIGER of Ft. Wayne; Mrs. Joanna KNAUFF, of Macy; Miss Willodean [WILSON], of Macy, and his grandmother Mrs. Cora WHITTENBERGER, of Macy. Mr. and Mrs. Scudder Wilson left immediately for Butler, Pa., from where they will return with the body. Funeral arrangements will be announced in Tuesday’s issue of The News-Sentinel.
Wednesday, October 30, 1935 The funeral services for the late Robert WILSON, who bled to death in Butler, Pa., Saturday night following an accident will be held from the Christian Church in Macy Friday at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Ernest LAUGHLIN will be in charge. Burial will be made in the Macy Cemetery. Mr. Wilson lived in Rochester, N.Y., where he was employed as an advertising solicitor. He was born at Macy.1 |

She was employed as a lab technician at Armour & Company, worked at Hart, Schaffner & Marx and Rochester High School food services. She owned and operated the A&W, now B&K, root beer stand for several years. She served as a deaconess at First Christian Church, was a member of Macy Mothers Club, the Child Study Club, the Republican Women’s Club, Fulton County Historical Society, and for many years sent cards to Knightstown Home on behalf of the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include one daughter, Geraldine Joan and husband Boone COY, Spring, Texas; two sons, Jerry Joe and wife Mitzie KNAUFF, Spring, Texas and Larry Grant KNAUFF, Corpus Christi, Texas; 12 grandchildren, Steven and wife Brenda COY, Kristina Martin and Lindsey KNAUFF, all of Spring, Texas; Kendra and husband Gregory KAHN, Austin, Texas; Jerry J. Mr. Hoover was born June 25, 1893, at Toledo, O., the son of John and Jenny BUTLER HOOVER, and had spent almost all his life in this city. His grandfather, Chris HOOVER, was one of Rochester’s earliest merchants, as furniture dealer and mortician. In his younger days, Mr. Hoover was an expert sportsman. He earned a statewide reputation as a shotgun marksman and won many honors in clay pigeon shooting. He also was an ardent duck hunter and fisherman. Despite the accidental loss of a thmb on one hand and two fingers on the other, Mr. Hoover was an accomplished golfer and for many years was the leading player on the Rochester country club’s golf team that competed with neighboring cities. An automobile enthusiast in the early days of the auto, he made numerous trips to Florida in the days when only gravel and dirt roads were available for travel. Mr. Hoover gave freely to charity and distributed food to the poor at Christmas time, although always requesting that his name not be used in connection with the gifts. Upon the death of his father, he succeeded to the ownership of the Hoover furniture store and mortuary, founded by his grandfather. Like many other businesses, it was forced to close during the Depression.3 |

Obit | Rosine's obituary was published in the Montgomery County Leader on 7 August 1925: Mrs. Rosine Fry, daughter of John and Rosine Zimmerman, was born October 27, 1859 and died August 2, 1925 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dan Wencil of New Florence, Mo., aged 65 years, 10 months and 7 days. In the year 1888, she was married to John Fry, to whom she was a devoted companion until his death on November 11, 1908. To this union were born five children, William and Felix Fry, Mrs. Mayme Wencel, Mrs. Louise Bochart, and a child who died during early childhood. Besides her children, she leaves to mourn her departure two brothers, Will and Briscoe Zimmerman, three sisters, Mrs. Lydia Ellis, Mrs. Lonnie Lance and Mrs. Louisa Devereux, many relatives and a host of friends. Early in life Mrs. Fry was christened in the Lutheran Church.4 |

Obit | Felix Valdine's obituary was published in the Montgomery City Standard on 10 January 1957: November 27, 1956. Felix Frye, son of John and Rosina Fry, was born at Jonesburg, Mo. November 22, 1891 and passed away very suddenly at his farm home, three and one-half miles northwest of Big Springs, Mo. On Nov. 27th at the age of 65 years and 5 days. He was baptized as a child in the Lutheran Church near Jonesburg. The last few years he was a member of Hugo Methodist Church, south of New Florence, Mo. On August 26, 1914, he was married to Miss Callie Atterberry. Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. James (Jewell) Williams of Mexico, Mrs. Sam (Ruth) Poindexter of Montgomery City, Mo; three sons, Homer Frye of High Hill and Eugene and John of Clinton, Iowa; two sons-in-law; three daughters-in-law and seventeen grandchildren; two sisters; Mrs. Dan Wencel of New Florence and Mrs. Walter Hudnall of DeKalb, Illinois; one half-brother, Earnest Fry of Cincinnati, Ohio. Funeral services were held November 29th at 2:00 p.m. at Big Springs Methodist Church by his pastor, Rev. D.A. Tappemeyer, assisted by Rev. Jones. Burial was at Hugo Cemetery.11 |
