Obit | Ida Belle's obituary was published in the Unnamed Newspaper on circa 1890: Miss Ida Belle Curtis, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Curtis, died at the home of her parents, corner of lain and Water streets, at 4 o'clock Tuesday morning after an illness of nearly nine months. Miss Curtis was about 22 years of age and resided in Mishawaka for a time previous to going to South Bend. She was held in the highest esteem by her many friends and admirers here. For a time she was a teacher in the South Bend Commercial College, and a cheerful and competent instructor. To her sorrowing relatives and friends we extend our sincere sympathy in their bereavement and hope that their sorrow may be allayed by the knowledge that those eminent virtues she possessed in life, to such a marked degree, merited for her that reward which is bestowed only on the just. The funeral occurred from the late residence, at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning, Rev. Wiley K. Wright officiating. The pallbearers were Attorney Dunbar and John Urquhart, of South Bend, Dr. T. P. Camelon, Allan and Arthur Garvin and John Miles of Mishawaka. A large number of the deceased lady's friends followed the remains to Baugo cemetery, where the interment took place.4 |
