Mr. Fancher was born Feb. 19, 1942, in Harvey, Ill., the son of Oliver B. Fancher Sr. and Dorothy M. Friedrich Fancher. His mother survives. He was married Dec. 10, 1966 in Chesterton to Lois E. Peterson, and she survives. Also surviving are one son, Glen Fancher of Chesterton; one daughter, Vicki (Stan) Keller of Chesterton; one sister, Sandra (Robert) Lawson of Chesterton and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Fancher was the owner of Fancher Trucking Excavating Inc., in Chesterton. He was a U.S. Army veteran and he served in the Dominican Republic 1964-66. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church; the Calumet Masonic Lodge No. 379 F&AM; the Orak Shrine in Michigan City, the Scottish Rite, South Bend Consistary; the Chesterton Moose Lodge No. 1623; the American Legion Post 170 of Chesterton; and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2511 of Porter. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church building fund.1 |

On Sept. 7, 1946, she married Richard A. Fancher, who preceded her in death Jan. 24, 1984. Survivors include a son, Richard Fancher, Chesterton; a daughter, Linda Levack, Chesterton; a brother, Roy Marquardt, Chesterton; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both parents; a brother, Lester Marquardt; and one grandson. Mrs. Fancher was a lifelong area resident and affiliated with St. John's Church. She was a member of the Women of the Moose, Chesterton Lodge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetic Association or to the Kidney Foundation.1 |
