(Witness) NoteB At a coroner's inquest held 21 February 1878, testimony was heard about a dispute between George Black and Abner and Clark Curtis, his near neighbors and owners of a local still. Clark had sworn to kill George for telling lies about him and he and Abner were in and out of the house preceding George's death. It was said that Abner caught George's coat on fire, inflicting a bad burn, after having persuaded George to go down to the still for a drink. But the doctors testified that George's death did not result from the burn. George Black lived with Sepha, Dennis and Daniel Black.6
