Obit | Thomas Ira's obituary was published in the Daily Post-Athenian on 4 May 1984: T.I. “Skipper” Curtis Sr., 59, of Ten Mile, died unexpectedly Thursday evening. He was a native of Monroe County and a resident of Etowah for 24 years and of Ten Mile for 15 years. He was an L&N conductor and a member of the Methodist church. Survivors include his wife, Geneva Mason Curtis of Ten Mile; daughter, Mrs. Linda Rose of Baton Rouge, La., two sons, T.I. Curtis Jr. of Athens and David Curtis of Etowah; five grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Elerane Russell of Etowah; a brother, W.J. “Bill” Curtis, also of Etowah and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bordwin Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Neil officiating. Interment will follow in McMinn Memory Gardens.3 |

Obit | Clara's obituary was published in the Daily Post-Athenian on 24 September 2001: Clara E. Curtis, 79, of Englewood, died Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at her residence. A native of Morgan County and a resident of McMinn County for 60 years, she attended Mars Hill United Methodist Church and the Etowah Senior Center. She was a daughter of the late Charles Fredrick and Etta Rainey Engert and was preceded in death by her husband, W.J. Curtis Jr; one sister, Mona Jeffers; and one niece, Janie Jeffers. Survivors include two sons, Bill Curtis of Cleveland and Charles Curtis of Albertville, Ala; and five grandchildren, Charley, Susan, Becky, Billy and Alex Curtis. Funeral services will be 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the south chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Linda Bird Wright officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in McMinn Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday prior to the services at the funeral home. Bordwine Funeral Home of Etowah is in charge of arrangements.3 |
